Has there ever even been a decent game-based film that didn't suck ass? Hitman was the only half-decent one i've seen and that was quite poor.

Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Or Alive, Doom, Tomb Raider, Mortal Kombat. All of which where crap (with the exception of the first Resi film) and yetthey had so much potential!

Wll there ever been a quality Game-to-film adaptation?

On Wikipedia, there is a list of such films TBA. Stuff like Deus Ex, God Of War, Halo, Even The Sims was on there! But will they get it right? I doubt it.

They are generally low budget films aimed towards a young audience. Don't count on them ever not sucking.

You could also claim Tomb Raider was a comic book movie.

i agree that the first resident evil and Hit man was decent films. but resident 1 is so far the best out of all of them.

The movie dudes needs to realize they need to follow the game more closely and not make dam changes they thank will be better for it them.

It needs to be about the game, not a real life version of the game with out all the non fiction stuff.

just for once follow the game and not from someone opinion......

FYI- Spirit Within was bad yea, but they still got the best visuals of all the games turn movies so far.

Gore Verbinski, director of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, is going to direct Bioshock, the movie. Len Wiseman, director of the Underworld movies and Live Free or Die Hard, is said to be working on a Gears of War movie, however, Wiseman's comments about the game made it sound like he's another clueless Hollywood director who doesn't care about staying true to the source material. But who knows, maybe one of these guys will make a good video game movie for the first time ever.

I would like to see a S.T.A.L.K.E.R movie based on the game. (Yes I know the game is based on the movie, but I would like to see a new movie that is more like the game.)

Totally disagree, Silent Hill was great, Mortal kombat films are basicaly meant to be "Fun" and fun is what they were, honestly how are you going to make a revolutional story out of a Fighting game ? LOL it was good for it was. Resident evil 1 was ok, didnt like the rest that much, but they made the films the best way they could, Resident evil is not a series only about Horror, But science fiction aswell.

To me, it depends on 2 things: If the movie is good, or if the movie is a good adaptation of the game itself. I'm one of the few people that actually enjoyed some of the crappy movies, like the first Street Fighter and Mario Bros.

The first street fighter was great for the simple fact that it had the great Raul Julia as M. Bison. That and the fact that it knew it was going to be a camp movie and didn't try to be anything else is what makes it great, IMO. I agree that Silent Hill was a good movie too.

I think the Tomb Raider, The first Resident Evil movie and the Silent Hill movie were very good adaptions of Viedogames to movies. Of course a movie based on a game will be different as if it's identical to the game then we could've just seen a Youtube walkthrough instead, but I will agree that most are just dreadful.

The screenwriter for the BioShock movie wrote the screenplays for Sweeney Todd, The Aviator and Gladiator. So that's a step in the right direction, at least.

Well it's starting to look up. Hopefully it wont be a compleat flop. I did quite like the second Resi film but only because Nemesis was in it!

Oh yeah, there's also the Warcraft movie being made by Legendary Pictures (same studio that did 300, Batman Begins, Dark Knight, etc.). But they don't even have a director attached yet, and there hasn't been any news that I'm aware of on the movie in over a year, I think. It's still going forward from what I understand, but Blizzard and LP are being very hush hush about it.

apparently Gore Verbinski was asked to do the 4th installment of the pirates of the caribeean movies but said no because he wants to do bioshock. I think this will finally be a great video game movie. ive got hope
