I really enjoyed it. I still have to see the last episode, but it made me really want to go buy the books.

I'm just looking forward to them releasing the DVD so that I can actaully watch it. I'll try to make sure I'm subscribed to HBO by the time season 2 premiers. Glad to hear it was good though. Commander-GreeShould just subscribe now if you have Comcast and watch them all On Demand.
I loved it as well. Another great show on HBO. I also may have to pick up the books to see what happens next as next spring is a long way off. Victors_ValiantI'm going to watch the season over again lol :D
As far as the action goes, I'm going to guess it was sort of like how in Lord of the Rings, most of the action doesn't happen until the second film. This was more for setting up characters and showing the political intrigue, subversion, and subterfuge. That's what made this show so much better than just action. If you want a good amount of action with lesser of the subversion, "Camelot" on Starz network is pretty good about King Arthur. It's more realistic than the more fantastical counterparts through the years, but it does, in no way hold a candle to the full plot of Game of Thrones. I feel there will be a lot more action next season as what happens with Jaime Lannister, Daenyrys the dragon princess, and let's not forget the Watch riding North of the Wall. Seems like a lot of things will be going on.
As for the books, I began reading the first book after watching the 8th episode and realized that despite watching the shows pretty closely, I really didn't know everyone's name and position. There were intricacies and dialogue that I just didn't pay enough attention to. I think it helps to read the books as you're watching the show or before. If you read them afterwards, then you may have to watch the episodes again to get the full visual effect. However, reading first may ruin the surprise effects of what actually happens in each episode when they're new. Either way, you should really do both to get the full scope of what is happening. Great job to the writer of the books and to the acting and directors and effects guys in the shows. Top 10 show of all time if it keeps it up, maybe top 3 or 5.
I can't believe Season 2 won't be out until Spring 2012. So far away.xXDrPainXx
I know, its not fair
they're showing them all this week, if you havent seen/recorded them yet.I thought it was great. I'm fixing to have a Season 1 marathon soon.

NED!
DRAGONS! :D
TYRION!
JOFFREY!
That's all I got at the moment. Love the show, but I bet book readers laugh at us who are learning about the bigevent during the show.
Tyrion slaps Joffrey for 10 minutes Totally deserves it, especially after season one.
It started off really slow, but I thought it really got good midway through. They had to set everything up, especially for people like me, who havent read the books. Its not like a show like Camelot, where everyone knows the lore, (or at least the basics, Arthur, Merlin, Lancelot, etc), and can just get to the conflict right away.I like it but, IMO, it's rather slow. I was really expecting a lot of action, monsters, etc. Instead we got a fantasy soap opera. It's still very good, just not what I, and many others I've talked to, expected.

The show is simply awesome, completely blew me away, I am quite excited for Snow's story next season, fortunately I don't have to wait, I bought the 4 books that are currently out for $20 yesterday on Amazon. :PMythomniacYeah, I'm tempted to order the set myself.

So far I'm liking the books better than the tv series, which is almost always to be expected.

Do it. You won't regret it. The money you save will be of use when July 12h rolls around and the new book is released :D
Love the show. It's friggin EPIC! I'm about halfway through the first book now, btw.
Sucks waiting for Season 2 though. :(
I loved it! I can't wait for Season 2, but it's so far away.
But there are other great shows till next spring: Burn Notice season 5 started, ( So I'll be watiching that this summer ), the second season of Boardwalk Empire airs this fall ( so I'll be watching that this fall ) and also The walking Dead ( I think it'll air around October ), so I'll have something to watch.
But I'll still feel some emptiness without Game of Thrones, which might be filled by Burn Notice. :)
You forgot Breaking Bad, honest one of the best shows on tv.I loved it! I can't wait for Season 2, but it's so far away.

Are they gonna call season 2 Clash of Kings or stick with Game of Thrones?
Palantas
I was wondering about that. On one hand, they'd make the fans happy with the name change. On the other, they'd be given away a now-recognized brand name.
It will be called Game of Thrones for the entire series according to George R.R. Martin's blog. Apparently it was his suggestion as renaming the show every season simply isn't done.
I really enjoyed season one, but could have done without some of the gratuitous sex scenes that don't add anything at all to the show. Primarily, I could have done without the one that happens all over the top of Peter Balish's exposition about his past and his aspirations for power. Can't wait for A Dance With Dragons to hit the shelves...
I never read the books or anything but I watched the episode where the Khal dies and the dragons are born and I gotta say it's pretty good. THe only things I don't like are that there isn't enough action and that girl Daenerys (sp?); she's terrible.
I just started reading the second book. Why did they have the first chapter with Arya in the second book in the show?
So there is a television series based on the first novel of a series of books? Why not base it on the whole series of books instead? :shock:Hexagon_777
It most likely will. The second season, which will be based on the second book, is slated for next spring.
