Hey all.

I just watched the first 2 Episodes of Game of Thrones (Season 1). I am in Australia therefore we get everything late here.

This show had lots of hype so I was looking forward to it.

The first few minutes on Episode 1 (where they are beyond the wall and get attacked by the walkers) was great, but after that it really slowed down.

I then watched Episode 2 and felt it dragged on a bit.

Does it get better later on?

I normally give every new show 3 Episodes. If it hasn't caught me by then I don't watch anymore. Should I give GoT more episodes?

Also, too much sex takes away from the story. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind naked women, but it could be done differently.

The show is great. The first book in and of itself was rather slow. It focuses a lot on character development especially in the first few episodes. It does begin to pick up quite a bit halfway through the series. The series as well as the books are excellent. The 2nd season will be superb.

Unfortunately the first season was about as exciting as buttered toast. Amazing quality, but it wasn't the monster slaying, ass kicking show most people thought it was going to be.

We both said it was amazing quality show. Great show. I never said it was monster slaying action. I did say it does pick up half way through the season. It's still rather dull though. But the acting and story is excellent which makes it a great show.

Stick with it because the second season is supposed to be a lot better. It sure as heck better be. The show costs HBO WAY too much money to be this boring.

Thx guys. Yeah, it's like HBO always puts in sex scenes to try to make an impact or something. Like I said, I don't mind sex, but there are ways to present it.

If you just want something with non-stop action and battles, this probably isn't for you. If you're more interested in characters and story, however, then Game of Thrones is the way to go.

Boring as in a complete lack of the action most people were expecting. I'll keep watching it even if it stays the way it is.

You do realize that this is based on a book series right? One that at this point is 5 novels and will be 7 at completion. Most of the sex scenes depicted are lifted from the first novel. Added ones are often important as they feature characters less prominent in the novel allowing them to be fleshed out. Honestly, they could make the series much raunchier, not that they should. None of the scenes are sex for sex's sake. The pacing may seem slow, but you need to realize that this is a massive story being told. Much of the first season essentially builds the world and introduces you to the characters. However, the falling action is quite strong. Episodes 8, 9 and 10 do an amazing job of bringing all of the events together...

Well there's still some action, iirc, but it's not the draw of the story. It's more a battle of wits than anything (which for me, personally, is a lot more interesting).

Cool, I'll keep watching then. I just feel that the first few minutes beyond the wall really set the mood....and then it all sort of went down 6 gears and stayed there. Nothing wrong with character development and story (I love it), but when the most exciting thing that happens is a kid falling from a tower in a whole episode, u start to wonder...

Definitely do not get your hopes up for anymore action beyond the wall in this season. There will be quite a bit more next season (Book 2), and the third and fourth (both book 3) promises epicness in that area. BTW, the moment Bran was pushed from the tower is the exact same moment I became a fan of the series. It was completely out of left field and really illustrates the brutality the author has toward his main characters. People will die. People you like. That is why this is a fantastic series.

I felt the same way for the first two to three episodes. But then, something clicked. Now it is one of my favorite shows, and has even resulted in my reading of the book. So I would definitley advice you to stay with it; you won't be dissapointed.

The only way to be able to pay for them online is to use HBO Go. Its really stupid, i think. The blurays are in March.

BossPerson

man up? It says right in the Terms of Use that you cannot talk about illegal activities (like illegal streaming tv/movie sites), or incite others to commit them. Its not an excuse, its a rule.

Why does everything have to be to extremes? Can't a good show have character development, story and slow progression while at the same time have explosions and sword fights? On Topic: I just watched Ep3. Same but getting interesting. The trailer for Season 2 looks like it will have more action and special effects.

It's one of the best shows on TV now, but the first few episodes are pretty slow. If you're intointrigue and a (very) unpredictable storyline, then keep on watching. If you want something akin to a Michael Bay movie, then stick to something vapid, like Transformers:P.

I almost stopped watching a few episodes in, but soon you see everything sort of coming together in a really exciting way. And the show does tend to get more exciting near the end.

Again, do I really have to choose? A show can easily have Michael Bay action and also intriguing, unpredictable storyline and character development. Take the first 4 seasons of 24, perfect example as to how it can blend the two.
