Gamefaqs and their stupid moderators putting people in purgatory status

you know, its really childish immature for people that are moderators to put people in purgatory status just because one doesn't agree with something that other people post in the messageboard.

these stupid purgatory and suspended status things going on at gamefaqs it needs to effin stop. Especially a stupid half of a year purgatory that a member gets put in. What's the effin point for stupid crap like that?

@tuskenraider80: I was a gamefaq member for about 8 years. I quit because it’s a complete dumpster fire there….i once got moderated for making a joke. Never again. It’s way better here.

Does it put user's GameSpot account on suspension too?

GameFAQs and their frustrating moderators seem to love putting folks in purgatory status for the smallest reasons. It's like navigating a maze sometimes! It seems like this site does not care about user accounts much.

My OG GameSpot account got deleted in some big purge at one point, I think it might even be because of when they merged with GameFAQs.

On my current account, an image that got flagged a long time ago, was proven to not violate, image was never used again. Somehow got flagged again for that same image, all of my posts deleted.

Good thing I don't really care about anything I posted on these sites! (And to be honest, humanity is probably much better off if my posts can't be scraped to power AI.)

I would look at this opportunity to avoid the sites as a blessing.

Banned for saying something someone didn't agree with? Banned for making a joke?

Those are very vague terms, seems like there is missing information here, since I haven't seen behavior like that since 2000s niche forums. What was the "opinion"? What was the "joke"?

@outworld222: Because you are in a discussion forum. You posted this and shared with us that this happened to you. Why would you do this if you didn't want to talk about it?

If you tell a story that you got banned for a joke, the single most important part of the story is "what was the joke".

@Willy105: ok. I got moderated for making a joke. It was a joke about hamburgers. I closed my account because I realized moderators there are unfair. The moderators said it wasn’t about making a joke. They were just acting defensively because a user wanted us to be on topic. He even said he was going to flag those that don’t.

I said something like….but do you know the history of hamburgers??? (Something like that).

Edit: anyways, TC I do seem to remember you, very vaguely.

@outworld222: Ah ok. So they wanted you to stay on topic and you didn't. Seems frustrating for you but staying on topic is staying on topic, regardless of whatever you wanted to say about hamburgers. You chose to close your account, so good on you for realizing what works for you and what doesn't.

@tuskenraider80: What does this has to do with GameSpot? You are aware GameSpot & GameFAQS moderators don't associate each other right? You might wanna go to "Ask the Mods" and see what they can do for you. So no point of keeping this thread open.
