It is all to easy to complain about the broken system we refer to as the American government. Sure there are a myriad of issues that are more important than video game regulation, but that does not mean that it should be abused by pandering politicians as a means to recruit voters. Politicians and candidates that spew baseless accusations towards the industry and gamers should be made to feel the united force of those they offend and dismiss.

Today, I signed up for the Video Game Voters Network and while I am not sure what they will be able to accomplish going forward, it is a positive and necessary start. However, it will certainly have a better chance of being successful if people join. So, if you are over 18, I suggest you head over to the site and sign up as it only takes a minute or two.

I don't know why you would call it a joke. You obviously enjoy video games and one of their primary goals is to ensure that the industry does not become excessively regulated.

I don't think anyone is advocating single issue voting on a politco's game industry position, but calling folks on BS seems viable to me (like correcting Leland Yee). Regarding it as silly helps underscore another point I made not too long ago, though :(

Not a particularly compelling issue with me....and it's a fad and will disappear as did the attacks on music.

doesn't it need to be regulated. Not to the point where games are banned (which can't happen over there in the US because of the 1st amendment, if I'm not mistaken) but to the point where you stop 10 year olds playing manhunt.

Everything is serious to someone. If you don't like it, then don't join it. In my opinion it's just as legitimate as people who hunt fighting for less regulations on guns and hunting...or people who enjoy independent music fighting for more regulations on corporate ownership of the industry...or people in the porn industry fighting for less restrictions in the name of free speech and expression. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a joke, but if you want to be critical and sarcastic, that's your business.
