check out the Kotaku story here

To be honest. I'd prefer them not to quit. I've visited the site nearly everyday for the last 3 years and if people like Alex, Ricardo, Ryan and the rest of the teamleave there's no way the brand GameSpot (because thats all it would be then) would survive.

Go on strike or do something crazy, but for god sake don't quit.

While I enjoy Gamespot and appreciate and support its staff, it's not like these are our leading cancer researchers or something. I'm pretty sure they can find a handful of people who want to review games for a living. I doubt the long term survival of Gamespot is at stake.

They should all just jump ship and make a new gaming site. I mean, the site is its editors at the end of the day.SpaceMoose

Well, if they did, they could all just get together and start a new site (easier said than done, I know). At the end of the day, the site is its editors after all.

It isn't gamespot's fault really. Blame Eidos for being a bunch of babies.

Maybe, but I'd rather not see the site totally ruined.

That would be great if they could do something like that. I don't think there is much chance of it though :( I still think that despite how hard it must be for them to give up on Gamespot, they should do it, the Execs from CNET have let them down imho so why should the Gamespot staff show them any loyalty. I hope they do it for there own sakes rather than stay where they are and work in an atmosphere of fearing getting fired.

From that article it sounds as if Josh Larson is the one that needs to go.

Thats nice in theory. But unfortunatly its not that easy. Prices of servers. Employing good designers and technicians. Getting debug kits. Getting HD caputre equipment. Paying people... the list goes on.

They need to quit and move on. I love Gamespot, but this is the end. How can they bounce back from this much damage to their credibility? They should move on to bigger and better things where they won't be pressured by ads or people like the anti-christ himself, Josh Larson.

If anything, people with resumes that read "corporate sell-out whore" would replace the ones who leave.

While I don't want the editorial staff to jump ship, I hope either they do or upper management does. One of the two needs to happen and I'd rather it be the suits.
