Gamespot forums 2004

Oh how I miss the good ol day when the forums were out of control. It was actually fun back then with all the clowns that flooded these boards. I probably got 8000 of my posts between 2004 and 2008 but there after hardly been active. The forums just doesn't have the same energy as back in the days. Esp after they cleaned up system wars, it has become a snooze fest. Also, it seems the forums are not as active now. =/

I got most of my posts in the old SW days. The old ps2, xbox, GC fights. Lol.

I believe different social media websites also have done their part to kill the activity in forums like this one on a general basis.

I was there and I can attest to the fact that 2004 was absolutely the bee knees. Halo 2, Half Life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry, Metroid Prime 2, GTA San Andreas, everyone was high in brawling each other.

I didn't post much here, but I remember having outrageous post amounts on other forums in late 2004 and 2005. I remember one forum I may have made 1000 posts in 24 hours. But things were different. I was a high school student, and also much more prone to making silly posts that don't really contribute to anything.

Yep.....now its just over emotional political debates or thhat dude with the final fantasy avatar asking questions

Heh, I come back after 11 years and see this thread.

Social Media has pretty much killed off forum culture. Wasn't posting in '04 but all my posts are from 05-06, and those were some good times on this board. (here's a time capsule for you guys) Remember when it was extremely active, you had to make your settings 50 threads per page or else threads would dissapear to page 2 and 3 pretty quickly. And even at 50 it would still move fast. Nowadays you don't even have to get halfway down the page before you see a thread with its last post being 1 day ago. Pretty depressing coming here now. It's a ghost town.

Never forget Ruby_Knight. Does this place even have Otcars anymore?

Since the changes, I have lost the motivation to even visit the site.

As said be for it the format of web sites these days trying to make every one of them touch screen size. They don't realize that its not very good for desktop uses with these big format websites and that a lot think every one now uses phones or tablets. Tis racist against desktops. Desktop lives matter too. :P

I remember game specific forums were very active. Specifically, the speculation when that Twilight Princess trailer dropped had that TP forum going off the rails...

It's a different age now. The game enthusiasm on these boards have really slowed down. Not to mention that Gamespot itself has had a radical transformation as a result of (1) the demise of the original Gamespot crew, (2) the site rebuild.
