If there really is a heaven or someplace like that after death I believe that you becomed enlightened to the universe and everything in it. You will gain ultimate nowledge. When I hear the description of heaven this is the only way I believe that humans can be eternally happy for the rest of eternity. All of the worlds sadness comes from unanswered questions. A excellent example of this is when a couple gets a divorce and their child asks why it happened. If they parent tells them that it happened because of certain reasons they are not willing to discuss that child could eventually interperet that silence negatively arriving at the conclusion that they were the problem.
yeah, but only time will tell....ALTER_duo
That's the thing... if there is, then time will tell. But if not, then, well, nobody died and then was like 'woah, there is no afterlife!' If you can understand what I am saying...
I believe there will be a new heavens and new earth as in Bible verses such as this:
Rev 21:1-And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away
I'm not sure but hopefully there is (and it doesn't involve being tortured until the end of time).deshields538
Yeah, that would kind of suck, wouldn't it?
Friend: "Hey, you want to go out tonight?"
Me: "I can't, I've got to keep being tortured until the end of time. Maybe tomorrow, though."
well, if Jesus rose from the dead, this pretty damn well validates the claims of the OT prophets and the apostles. and since the resurrection of Jesus christ can be established as a historical event.....fanofazrienoch
Huh?
Your actually taken back to New Jersey and forced back to life. Then they cover your eyes and spin you around. Then your promptly shoved out of the door.Wilfred_Owen
Wha? New Jersey? Even if I am a good person my whole life?

it can be.now you've seem to have demonstrated your willingness to further discuss this. right off the bat, do you accept that Jesus existed and was crucified?

Sure. Thousands of people were crucified then.

Sure. But when something goes missing I do not automatically assume that it grew wings and flew to another dimension.

perhaps Jesus was stolen from his tomb by a bunch of necropheliacs?
Maybe he was taken and they made a movie called "Weekend at Jesus'" where they went to some cool tropical island and pretended for everyone that he was alive.

Im not finished. keep your pants onnow, what about the appearence to Peter, to James, who was a skeptic, to Paul, who was a skeptic and active persecutor of the church before his conversion, to the twelve, who were not expecting it because no one even thought of a dying messiah, and to the 500 bretheren?

I know where youre going with this, and you should stop
religion + logic = fail
I dont say this to be cruel or mean, its just how it works. The whole concept of religion is that its based off belief, and not knowledge. Religion is great, its full of morals, ethics, lessons, and even, on occasion, some neat history but the fact is that its a belief, and it should be kept to yourself and those that share your belief.
In short, you cannot prove something thats a belief to be true.

okay you and bojangles are more than rational. so I will briefly give a bullet point summary of the evidence for the resurrection1: empty tomb of Jesus
2: appearence to James, a skeptic
3: appearence to Paul, a skeptic
4: appearnece to the 500
5: Paul's conversion
6: the disciples' conversion
all these require an explanation
