All of the time on the news you hear about how fat Americans are.  IM a huge gamer and have been my whole life.  I recently watched an article on the news about Gaming causing obesity in young children.  Isn't that a crock of CENSOR BYPASS REMOVED-MODERATOR

I just wanted to see what some other people thought about the issue... AND IM TIERED of some upper level A-holes criticizing peoples forums... so do me a favor and just don't post a msg. on this forum, if your going to try and shoot me down.

I see the point of the first paragraph, but your grammar on the second paragraph is illegible...Needed to point that out.

Well video games don't make people fat, its what they eat that makes them fat. People complain because they think video games stops kids from exercising. Which is true but if you put limits on video games and go outside and exercise a couple times a week then video games present no problem.

I do Taekwondo for 12 hours a week...and I'm an avid gamer. Not all gamers are fat, that is just a myth. a big dumb myth.

It depends on what you eat. It may not be nice to hear this, but fat people who blames their weight on gaming aren't taking proper care and responsibility for their own bodies. Eat healthy, and don't stuff yourself full of hamburgers/chips/soft drinks/pizzas/doughnuts or whatever else the stereotypical overweight American eats (because that's precisely the image my friends and I have of them... basing soley on news reports of how increasingly overweight they are).

I agree, I'm considered football player weight  (w/e that is) but I know when i'm just eating way too much. Seriously though, blaming anything else for being fat is stupid. (sorry, kinda sleepy I guess)

That is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard. I play games regulary and I am very, very fit. I weight train twice a day for an hour each, go for a five kilometer run and god knows what else. It's moderation, moderation is the key. Keep in mind I eat healthily as well, which is the key factor to having a healthy body. Games do distract people from the outside world and exercising, but only for a little while, you just need to remember that your playing a game, and that it isn't real.

I've been playing video games since around 5 years of age. I haven't been fat thus far. Balance of priorities is the issue here. One must ask themselves,"who teaches children of priorities?"

I agree. As long as you keep tabs on yourself and exercise, as well as eat right (most of the time =) ), then you'll be fine. Playing video games has little or nothing to do with obesity; it's all about personal responsibility.

Yeah, it's idiotic for them to say that gaming makes kids fat... being inactive and eating poorly makes you fat! I have played video games my whole life and yet I'm also one of the most athletic guys you will meet!!! Same with all my buddies!!! Shoot, my cousin is a big gamer and he just got a full ride scholarship to play football at BYU (Brigham Young University) and he is the fastest kid in his school! People always bash games but never bring up stuff that is just as bad or worse!!! It's lame!!!

Moderation and a little bit of exercise kept me going in my youth.  I ate a crap load of bad stuff, but I did go out and burn energy as well.  Hell, you could say the same thing about reading books.  If I sit under a tree eating oreo cookies and drinking Coke while I read, and neglect to exercise at all then the same thing will happen.  There is less activity involved in reading then playing games.  So why can't they attack books first, then work their way down the inactivity ladder?

    Damn you Books, Damn youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!

TV and obesity would be a better correlation.  You have to use both hands while gaming (unless your playing an H-game:o), while TV you can freely snack all you want to.  Also with TV you have tons of commercials 1/2 of which are for food items which will instantly trigger a hunger effect if you need food or not.  Often I find when I'm doing a gaming marathon I'll skip meals more often because I loose track of time.
