Do any of you play guitar or are really into gear? I've turned into a bit of an Ibanez enthusiast these past two years building, trading and collecting all sorts of guitars. My last project was a 96 S 540FM which has been customized and set-up fully so it plays like new (took the whole thing apart, cleaned and polished anything and everything I could). I had a S5470 as well as an S2170SE but I hated the construction of both guitars, very flat necks with beefy bodies and a terrible neck joint. I also have a '91 Standard Gibson SG that I've been working at a while, next I'm thinking of completely sanding it down to have a natural-mahogany look to it. I'm currently searching for an FGM100 or FGM400 but they are extremely rare and very hard to come by.

So yeah, any of you players out there? I'm currently learning Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson and Scarified by Paul Gilbert along with some random Opeth tunes here or there.

Guitar and bass here..I was an Ibanez shipper but my SA has kinda turned into my more sentimental guitar, I keep for the fact that it plays really smooth and it was my first decent guitar..might sell it though.

My main axes are my Fender Mustang (getting some new pickups for it soon, it'll sound sswwweeeeett) and my pride and joy, USA Gibson SG, limited edition ivory color.

and I just picked up a new Bass, 1995 Fender Jazz bass, plan to put some seymour duncan pickups in it, change the white pick guard to either red tortoise shell or black (the body is black) and it'll be good to go

ah, SA's are a nice Ibanez to play on. Have you ever tried an RG or S? Their S line of guitars is phenomenal, very light and very thin. They have their best bridge available (ZR or ZR-2, Edge Pro on 90's models) on the S line as well.

I've been looking into getting a blues guitar and I'm thinking either a Strat or Tele, I love the Fender twang in blues, no other guitar cuts through like a Fender for blues. Red torotise shell would look grade, I've seen a Black Strat with it before and it looked amazing (he had gold hardware on it as well, wow). I just have to swap out my pups on my S540FM and it'll be perfect; I'm going for a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the Bridge, Fast Track 1 in the middle, and Air Norton neck.

ah, I could talk gear all day :P.

I've played the RG, but not the S, I prefer my SA to the RG though.

I would go with a Telecaster for blues, but I'm a die hard Telecaster shipper, the only reason why I don't have one is that I'm so picky in what I want with it that I'll be saving for a little while before I find it.

DragonForce is terrible, Sam has to be the absolute sloppiest guitarist I've ever seen play live in my life. I could not believe what he was getting away with.

You would love the S if you're a fan of the SA, the SA was spawned off the original Saber design. RG's are chunky and the basswood gives it a very flat, in my opinion, lifeless tone. The S sings with mahogany and sounds even nicer if it has a maple top, which a lot of them do. My friend has a late 80's Fender Tele in perfect condition with blue and red lace pickips; his Tele screams Fender, it's got the absolute best jazz tone I've ever heard come out of a solid state Roland amp.

No way, I love classical! I've been planning on picking up a nylon-string acoustic just for my love of classical playing. I've been investing most of my scale practice into the harmonic minor and melodic minor to help give my playing that neo-classical sound. My favourites are Pagiani and Bach, they play pieces that are so beautiful yet sound slightly evil.

Cool! You can get a low end classical guitar for next to nothing, i fond them alot more comfortable than a regular acoustic with nylons, but its because i fingerpick :P

On the metal-ish side if youve ever heard Jasco by Sepultura, its really fun on a c|assical. I dont really like the timing of it, but it keeps your fingers busy and thats the main thing!

No you're not. I am. :P

My first guitar was a Falcon Stratocaster, which is on it's last legs - it won't keep in tune to save it's life and the bridge pickup is nigh on dead (no bite at all). I got an Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty for my 17th birthday, and about 2 years ago modded it with EMG 81 and 85 pickups which are beautiful. However the switch needs some work as switching from bridge to neck make the sound fade and fizzle at times.

My recent beauty was an Ibanez S470, dubbed "Baby Blue" which has wavey fret inlays opposed to the dot inlays that I've seen on most other S series. The floating trem is a ZR trem, which I never have to tune and can be restrung within 30 mins. The neck is flat, yet nicely rounded around the edges unlike other Ibanez's I've played, and the body is thin and light as a feather.
