Not too long ago today at 7pm, this message is posted in response to Jeff Gerstmann being fired. Author of the message is Gamespot and is linked to the homepage. I don't know if anyone in the upper managment realize this yet, anything public stunt like this will only feed the fuel to the fire...
I personally am not too sad about Jeff being fired, well, if a good enough reason is given. But how the event was handled was just down right in poor taste, "tone" issue?. The response itself is too generic to even be reflect the serious nature of this event. As FrayerHunter commented on the news:
The proverbial BS whistle is being blown on this. I warned what would happen if a generic PR response was given, and congratulations, this is the start.

I have decided to to stop my memership in silent protest partly because the payment was made just about a month ago so stopping now isn't hurting them much. I forsee a lot of people to do the same as well, and hence why I created this poll to tally people's respond on this. Let this be a way to voice our concern regarding the post, not just flame the board with hotheaded topics like all the locke thread in General discussion. Maybe this thread will be locked soon, and maybe removed for "tone" issue. Well, I have done all I can to voice my opinion on this topic, it's up to CNet to (hopefully) fix this problem before I will subscribe again.
I know this is probably the biggest crisis had that had come to pass for GS, and I hope that they can stay strong and hope the upper management will realize that this may mean the end of this site and handle it appropiately. As much as I call you guys reviews are biased(mostly for bashing DW series and high score on sport stuff), I hope you the best.
To all who think CNet is being unfair on this, think this way, maybe they were actually protecting Jeff Gerstmann's name by not revealing what he'd done wrong? If you think of it this way, then maybe it's easier to stomache what they had said. But I guess certain line had bee crossed and CNet may be better off "leaking" this info somehow, else there will be no end of complain and GS will probably never recover.
