I honestly can't see when I'll ever use Geometry in real life. Unless I'm going to be a mathematician or a math teacher, I will probably never need to know how to find the area of a trapezoid, triangle, etc. And right now we're learning about Inscribed Angles (Yeah I know WTF?) Anyway can someone tell me an instance in which Geometry is actually important?

Architechture, Construction, anything with building, housing, etc. Plus a few things I'm probably forgetting about. It's one of the easier of mathematics in my opinion

Ummm, if any math is important it is probably geometry.  A lot of construction workers, designers, architects use geometry.  Even people who design parts for ...... anything.

I like when little kiddies come complaining about practical uses of exorbitantly easy math when they could save their complaining for multivariable calculus or something. :)

plan and simple everything he said. Geomerty is a big part of engineering and many other carrer fields.

I never used geometry in real life but I needed TRIGONOMETRY to make my little demo of a first person shooter. Mind you I wasn't using an engine, pure code in C++.

I will probably never need to know how to find the area of a triangle, Blu_Falcon37

For crying out loud! It's so simple! It's (1/2)(b)(h) for god's sake! *Throws clipboard and graphing calculator to the ground*

Augh, I remember how I had to spend half my time in high-school listening to my classmates ask what's the point in different fields of math and other practical courses when they could be asking what's the point in bible studies when we're all atheists?

And then they'd complain that we aren't reaching the needed study goals for the finals. Maybe it's because they wasted half the time we were supposed to be learning with complaints? Damn, I hated those people.

Haha. You know everything about life do you?

Nobody has a clue what they're doing after school. It's best that you learn what you can. Apart from Algebra it is probably one of the most common forms of everyday Mathematics. It helps you develop problem solving skills too.

It stretches your mind and comprehension even if you don't have to use it the rest of your life.

I think everyone making a life plan early on are pretty much pacifying themselves from entering a panic or otherwise convincing themselves that they're incapable of being uncertain or wrong. Same how I think many forms of religion are means of appeasing the people by filling that void where they seem to question. It must be the preferred way of living to know or think you know everything that's going to be down the road.

I use math everyday at my job and I'm no Engineer or Architect. I work for the Rec. Dept. and I can't tell you how many times I've relied on high school math to save my tail. Try making a football, soccer, or baseball field from scratch and then tell me theres no math involved.

I also never thought I'd use anything in I learned in high school but I did. Sure its frustrating, but soak it up while you can.

we take up several subjects in ****so that we will have an idea of what or how things are in different occupations. for example, geometry is used in engineering, construction, etc. once we take this up in **** we'll have an idea, and you can narrow down what kind of job you may want in the future. :) hope i was clear.

I am a level designer, and I re-constructed the hotel from Fawlty Towers, and I can safely say I didn't use any geometrical math. I used geometry, but not geometrical math.

I really disliked Geometry, but the proofs are great problem solving exercises.
