George W. Bush spent 487 vacation days at Camp David and 490 vacation days at his Texas ranch.

That's 2.68 years of vacation across 8 years. That's 33.4%.

George Bush spent 1/3 of his presidency on vacation.

Let that sink in.

Disgusting, isn't it?

I am happy about that news. By being out of the office, that is 1/3 less destruction he could impart on this country.

No, because I doubt he was sitting next to a pool with a drink during that time. He was probably there and had so much work going on to get to since he most likely has an office. Your definition of a vacation and a presidents differ greatly.

Look, I despise Bush as much as anyone, but fair is fair.

Do you really think hosting leaders at Camp David is a vacation? I am sure some of those Camp David days were rest and relaxtion, but most of them are visits of foreign heads of state, etc.

Even at his ranch in Crawford, do you think he just tells the Secret Service to take a hike, I'll see you in 2 weeks? Or do you think he gets his daily briefings and such?

In fact, why is it that people would think it is a 9-5 job? OMG if he isn't chained to his desk in the Whitehouse, he must be on vacation? When it obviously isn't a normal job? Bush had a lot of flaws but skewering the guy because 1/3 of the job is hosting important people is hardly fair.

Here's a thought. The best President would be the one who got his butt out of his office for at least a portion of the day, 200 days a year and interacted with the citizenry.

TC, that doesn't matter at all. Did you know that while the oil is spilling into the Gulf, Obama is sleeping! I also heard that he eats meals too. You should watch more Fox News.

Wow! My last post was a **** up. Thank god, I removed it.

But anyway, presidents work out of the White House (like everyone says). I didn't like Bush either for all he did, but damn. How do you expect world leaders to meet if they're in their main building all the time? Chances are, Bush was doing something government related while he was out at Camp David.

But maybe I'm missing something, I really don't know.

Exactly. One thing kids nowadays do not realize it that Camp David has been around since President Roosevelt (who originally named it Shagri La) and President Eishenhower even hosted Soviet Leader Nikita Khrushchev there during the early stages of the Cold War.Khrushchev was asked to fly out there in a helicopter and at first declined but when he told that President Eisenhower would be riding in one too, agreed.

Much work gets done out there from Cabinet meetings to helping peace accords being signed. Whomever wrote that article is looking for a new way to bash a former President. Get over it already.

It's rather sad how people can't just leave Bush alone. Obama is trash on his own account and for his own policies. No need to bring Bush up every other day just because his approval rating's are dropping like a brick. I did not like Bush when he was in office but at least he entertained me, made me laugh at his stupidity at times. He had a good heart though and did his best. Cheney though... yeah anyways. Obama I can't say the same about he is always out there trying to act like the tough guy and all he does is come off as pathetic. Maybe my opinion but will see what happens and if he gets re-elected. Watching the poll numbers, I severly doubt he will. Democrats need to find a new poster boy.

After 8 years in office and all the crap he did he deserves to be remembered as one of the worst presidents ever. If you don't keep reminding that you could commit the same mistakes and elect someone like him again. Hell even Clinton is still bashed for such a stupid thing as having sex. Tell the germans and the rest of the world how they keep reminding themselves of Hitler just so they can have it fresh on their memory. Bush is not Hitler but the same principle applies.

I don't think the TC realizes how much time Obama spends at his home town of Chicago. Or how much time any president spends in their actual home. They aren't chained to their desk.
