So I'm gonna be getting a tattoo for my 21st birthday in a couple months, and I want it translated to aramaic. Anyone know of a good place to have this translated? Free or at least cheap. I want it to say "Peace resides in the rhythm of one".

try any free translator, or ask a native speaker onlineThe_New_Homer
Bad idea. Although it could result in some pretty hilarious translations.

exactly. im not sure if armaic is a well known langauge. i've never even heard of it! it's believed to be the language Jesus usedI want to apologize for his stupidity. It's the real epidemic here, not H1N1.[QUOTE="Memberino"]If you're referring to America then that explains the ignorance.FalcoLX
i wouldn't necessarily say they're overrated, just abused. in this case, i think it's more fitting since the phrase i'm getting is a reference to God. plus, people are naturally curious, and might be more inclined to ask about it if they don't know what it is. if people see it in english, they'll try to figure it out on their own. if they are more inclined to ask about it, they'll know exactly what i mean rather than guessing. just my theory. what i don't like is when people get something with no meaning behind it written in japanese or something. if it has a real meaning for you, that's all that matters.Abstract tattoo phrases in foreign languages are so overrated these days, is a "i love you mom" with a heart tattoo not good enough for ya?

My only concern would be presenting this completely unknown language to the artist with the possibility of no margin of error. Do you know if the slightest variation in a stroke or line could alter the message. It would be rather crappy to have "Pieces reside in the round of on", but I suppose you wouldn't really know anyways.

good point. it would seem as if the smallest stroke really would matter. and solid_mario i think i'll do that. i think i'll try talking with a professor about how well it can translate, and if the text is vulnerable to mistakes as far as getting the tattoo done.My only concern would be presenting this completely unknown language to the artist with the possibility of no margin of error.
