Just wondering if anyones got some suggestions on how to get out of this situation. Basically a friend of mine(call him friend X) advertised a job with his company; to learn about the job you have to RSVP with him for a group session where they provide some information and collect resumes. Another friend of mine(call him friend Y) is currently out of work and needs a job pretty bad so he RSVPs. Friend Y then convinces me to join him in the session because he is insecure or something, I'm not really sure. In any case, I contact friend X and RSVP as well.
Now get this, just a couple of mins ago friend Y calls me up and tells me he is going to bail on the session, just doesn't feel like doing it for some reason. The thing is the group interview is TOMORROW at 11 in the morning. It is much too late for me to contact friend X and officially let him know I'm not going to be there. I don't want to just not show up since that would be incredibly rude and friend X is a good friend of mine, I don't want to get him in trouble.
I didn't even want this job, I was simply doing it to help support friend Y and suddenly I might be stuck going to it solo and wasting a couple of hours of my time. Anyone have any suggestions on avoiding this?
PS. for those curious, friend Y is simply going to not show up even though he RSVP; he isn't as tight with friend X as me so I guess he doesn't feel that kind of guilt.
