Yes OT, I'm sad to say but me and my boyfriend of 1 1/2 years have broken up.

It's tough to have to end it like this, but he's going to start college in Texas while I'm going to study in Southren California. It was a mutual break up, and although I'm devestated, I know it's for the best. There were problems, but all in all it was a fantastic relationship. I know I can't dwell on it, but it's going to be hard to get over him so fast.

Anybody have advice on how to make this difficult process a bit less painful?

The best way to get over it is to start taking applications for the newly opened position of your boyfriend. Speaking of which....where do I submit mine? ;)

So listen, I was wondering, can I have your number? :|

Just watch some funny movies, they always help me. (or tv shows)

Focus on something else for awhile. Like every time you start feeling sad about it, go for a long walk or run, or some other activity. Put all your energy into it, and if he ever comes to mind, either be happy for all the good times you had, or just think of the negative things. I guess I wouldn't know for sure (since I've never had a gf), but these kinds of things always helped me get over a girl who rejected me.

I'm sure the boys of OT would be more than happy to show you a good time. And by good time, I mean you should expect awkward silences and consistent thoughts of "I saw that on socially awkward penguin". But really, do what you can to just enjoy yourself, and don't cut off contact with him completely. Neither of you did anything wrong, you just had to go separate ways. You can still be friends. I find that makes it easier, if not to move on then at least easier to feel comfortable with it.
