Hello,

what birthday gift for a person who's really into IT, games and generally new technologies? He doesn't want any console, as he has those which he consider worthy of having. He has modernised his PC recently and also got a new notebook, so I wouldn't relate the present with PC components. Then, I'm a little bit confused - what should I buy? Let's say that I want to spend not more than $200 (OK, if it really kicks ass, I can spend a little more :)). What would you suggest?

He plays football and volleyball recreationally with friends few times every week, so you shouldn't bother about balance between computer and real life in his case ;) Moreover, I think he would prefer something technology-related over some sports gear (he has even bought himself new shoes, ball and shirt lately, so I don't think he needs it).

maybe some awesome speakers or headphones? cos really really good headphones/speakers are so SO worth the money. obviously theres a point where the price/performance ratio gets too expensive for too little difference, but id say anything up to 200 by a good company would be well worth it. just a suggestion:)

Who is this person to you? For a friend $200 seems like way to much to spend on a gift.

iPod nano - nope, he has his beloved 30GB Zen Vision:M player which, as he claims, "Fulfills his desires completely" :) Headphones - not long ago he got new ones and is delighted with music quality, so I don't think it's a good idea. 12345678ew - nerdy? Hmm.. I wouldn't call him a typical nerd. Yeah, he loves maths, programming, those IT-jokes and so on, but he's very normal in behavior :) Oh, and.. those links which you wrote down don't seem to be working.

A gift card to an electronics store? Let him go in and browse. Either he can get something equal or above $200. Or a bunch of things that equal to $200.

Ahaha, yep, you got me :) I'm talking about myself, but in some places writing as if you were talking about someone else lets you get more replies (believe me). I knew it would eventually come out (I planned to write about it at the end of the discussion), but didn't know it'd happen so soon :D So: I should select a gift for the stated above price for me as my family told me to seek for a present so that they could know what exactly do I want :)

I suppose so as knowing all these things about a buddy (when did he buy shirt, ball, what does he think about every thing he has etc.) would be at least suspicious :D

OK, back to the topic. I'm thinking and thinking and have no idea.. Oh - please do not suggest things from, let's say, American Internet stores, as I live in Europe and it wouldn't be possible for the present to arrive in time.

I don't want a netbook, I don't need it because my notebook does the job very well and I don't need anything smaller. I was thinking over the kindle and it seems to be interesting. The question is: will I be using it? I don't think I would manage enough free time to read many books on it. But i will consider it, thanks man.

I'm not asking "What I want", but "What interesting thing may I want to have and haven't heard of yet" :) Recently I've bought a few games, so currently there is no need to buy any :)

Yeah, if I don't come up on any good idea, I'll just choose money. But I treat it as a finality and will try to look for sth interesting first :)

apologies guys, i just figured out that the whole website is encrypted so people don't steal your card numbers from it. i was logged in when i bought those links. either that or anything related to the FBI watch list can't be linked. Hello,

what birthday gift for a person who's really into IT, games and generally new technologies? He doesn't want any console, as he has those which he consider worthy of having. He has modernised his PC recently and also got a new notebook, so I wouldn't relate the present with PC components. Then, I'm a little bit confused - what should I buy? Let's say that I want to spend not more than $200 (OK, if it really kicks ass, I can spend a little more :)). What would you suggest?

Tigro_PL
A 2TB hard drive, they sell for around that price. Or maybe 2x1 tbs so he can put them in RAID.

To be honest, I'd just get him a gift card. He seems to need something very particular, so I would just leave it up to him to decide.

Just make sure you let him know that you didn't just cop out of buying him a real present; wouldn't want a good bromance to break up, now would we?:P

Hey guys - a "he" thing was revealed at the very first page of this topic :) Just to remind: that "he" was me, this topic is about a present for me :) JigglyWiggly_ - I was also thinking about some kind of great, enormous HDD. I'll think it over.
