So anyway, there's this girl at the grocery store who likes me. But I never get a chance to talk to her for a couple of minutes, which doesn't leave much opportunity for the romanticizing. I can't exactly ask her for her phone number or ask her if she wants to hang out, because we don't know each other that well.
But I just thought of a devious plan that allows me to ask her out without really doing so. Here's how the conversation would go...
Her: Yo, MrGeezer, what's up?
Me: Man, I'm doing alright, but I'm pretty damn tired. I stayed up too late last night playing Halo 3, I got almost no sleep, now I've got to be at work in an hour.
Her: Where do you work?
Me: I work at [place where I work]. Have you ever been there?
Her: No, I never been there.
Me: Oh, you absolutely MUST go there! It's GREAT! I usually stay there and get a couple of drinks after work. If you stop by late, come find me so I can say hi.
How is that? Is that more appropriate? I never actually asked her out, I just asked her to say hi if she stops by. And I did ask her to stop by in the first place, but isn't that okay since it can be construed as me trying to promote my employers rather than me overstepping the lines of tact by asking out someone who I have no right to ask out?
I figure, worst case scenario, she just plain doesn't ever show up. Whatever, no harm done. Best case scenario, she does show up while I'm having a drink after work, we get to chatting, and we get to know each other better.
Is that a good idea, or is that just stupid?
