Very smart girl. Very stupid child molester. What sort of kidnapper tells the victim to get in the car? Especially at a government owned public school?

The incident occurred at approximately 6:10 p.m. as the 12-year-old girl was standing on the sidewalk awaiting a ride outside Stanton Middle School, located on Limestone Road.

The girl tells investigators that a man driving a white van entered the school driveway and pulled up next to her. The man then told the girl to "get in the van".

The girl tells police she then held her iPod to her ear and told the man she was calling 9-1-1. He then fled and was last seen traveling southbound on Limestone Road.

The suspect is described as a white male, 35-45 years of age, with a dark crew cut **** hair. He was last seen wearing a dark sweatshirt and was operating a white work van.

A spokesperson for Red Clay School District says the girl is not a student at Stanton Middle School or in the Red Clay District. Because the incident occurred near one of their schools, the School District will make parents aware of what happened through 'Alert Now,' which is a phone message alert system.

She didn't have a cell phone? And if the guy is so stupid as to think she's calling 911 from an iPod, she could of easily just done something else to stop from being kidnapped.

That's nice. She was clever, it was lucky she had the iPod on hand, and the would-be abductor was an idiot (although if it was an iPod Touch, no one would be able to tell the difference from farther than a few feet). End of story. The iPod played a role, why the **** are you arguing about something so stupid?

...Yes it did. It saved her life. If you're in a burning building, caught under a flaming beam, two firefighters storm in, and one rescues you, and carries you outside. Would you say that firefighter really didn't do anything simply because there was another one right next to him, who could have done the same?

It's more like you're in a burning building, and there is a wide open door that you can walk through, but a fire fighter storms in and rescues you instead.

That analogy only works if the burning building is capable of chasing after you. Which is a scary thought...

Considering that the guy drove off the second she claimed to be calling the cops it seems very unlikely that he would have tried to use force to get her into the van. If he was really that determined then he would have simply gotten out of the van, attacked the girl, tossed the phone away, and chucked her into his van before driving off. Even if she didn't have the iPod doing something as simple as screaming "OMG HELP THIS GUY IS TRYING TO RAPE ME!" would have also probably done the trick.

An older guy, in a white van, asking a 12 years old to get in the van. I was just waiting the part where he said, he's got candies if she come inside.

In all fairness, that's VERY unlikely to have happened. Him chasing down a little girl at a school likely would have drawn a LOT more attention to himself than he wanted, considering that he's a kidnapper. Notice that he also could have easily just grabbed the girl anyway, smashed her phone after she said she was calling 911. But again...forcibly going after her and physically putting her in the van would've drawn too much attention to himself.

In all likelihood, the only way he was ever kidnapping the girl in the first place is if she had voluntarily stepped into the car.
