Girl gets blown by Airplane

In Sint Maarten - a Caribbean island, there is an airport located directly before a beach. When planes take off from its runway, the gusts from their engines can be forceful enough to send people flying into the air. In light of this, on the fence that closes off the runway, there is a sign which warns people that they can sustain injuries or die if they are close to the fence when a plane takes off. Some girl, in addition to other people, ignored the sign and was blown back. Here are two videos on the accident. I personally think it's pretty dumb for the airport to have been built so close to a beach. Even though there is a sign which warns people, do you think people should be fined - which they can be - considering the odd placement of the airport? Also, if people are injured or killed, should the airport be held liable?

Well, considering the frequency of such incidents, perhaps accommodations should be made in order to minimize or eliminate their occurrence. For example, as someone else mentioned, maybe a brick wall should be constructed. Then again, maybe a gate with openings is needed to allow the gust from the engines to escape?

A brick wall wouldn't hold up. Bricks being blasted across the beach would be even worse. Anyways, it's her own fault. The signs are there for a reason. It's an awesome beach/airport.

The fact that the 7700 Ft. runway including runoff aprons has a hard time being placed on an island with mountians (or rather high hills) on it precluding proper landing at such a facility, the airport was built where there would be minimum interference from them. The runway is placed in a way so the prevailing winds run paralell with the heading of said runway. Puting the runway and the airport at the isthmas of St. Maarten was the best place to put it.

No. I don't tend to associate idiots with that type of behavior; I recognize that most people aside from myself do, and assumed that was the case with you. No. I don't tend to associate idiots with that type of behavior; I recognize that most people aside from myself do, and assumed that was the case with you. I do associate idiots with that behavior however. Their humour is not my cup of tea, might be for others. Not really hard to explain the incident in question.

thats stupid dangerous how close the airport runway is to the beach. Not only are they fast winds comming out the back of that thing but they are also super heated aswell.
