Wassup guys. This isn't a 'please help me with a girl' thread, but it does involve relationships and what not. I'm not looking for advice or anything like that.

Basically, i've been with my current girlfriend for three months now. Lately, she'll come over for a date and will end up staying at my place for a good three or four days before finally deciding to go home. I have no problem with that, as i like her very much, but it's sometimes a pain for me to try and go to university and keep up with my work while she's constantly here.

So the other night, it'd been no more than 12 hours since i'd last seen her, and she texts me asking how my day has been. I decide to ignore it, as i'm very busy studying for an important exam. The following night, i text her to see how she's doing, and she doesn't reply. I know she's at home; and in fact she'd been killing time on facebook for the past few hours. I call her up a little later and she doesn't answer.

Has anyone else experienced this before? Or something of that nature? Basically the really annoying mind games that boys and girls play with each other for no apparent reason other than to keep their relationship complicated and stressful? I think sometimes we do these things just to stop life being boring.

I remember a few years back where i would continually blow off a girlfriend of mine when she tried to plan a date, even when i had nothing to do. Why? I have no idea. For whatever reason at the time i felt it was giving me some sort of leverage or whatever, but in hindsight i see i was just being a douche.

That's what i mean - mind games. Pointless wastes of time and energy. I was clearly just busy, yet people in relationships continually treat each other in this manner. It seems pretty common, and i just dont understand it.

Yeah, women are annoying like that. This is why I'm not seeking any at the moment. Very few women can be upfront about things.

I'll likely just apologise for ignoring her and explain why i did, while saying it was silly of her to get 'revenge' for something like that. Like i said, i wasn't looking for advice on how to deal with the situation, i was just wondering if anyone else is annoyed by crap like this. :P

Yeah, I get annoyed by this stuff too :P Sometimes my girlfriend likes me to get jealous about things. Like when she hangs out with her male friends. Most women like guys to be cool about this, right? Well my girlfriend wants me to be jealous about this. Okay, whatever... :P

You have to show her you wear the pants in the relationship. Which is why the first thing you need to do is steal all her pants.

Just leave her be. Yes people in relationships play lots of mind games, because both parties are willing contestants. When my G/f starts playing mind games I just break out of it if im not in the mood. Don't get me wrong, mind games can be fun and keep the relationship alive, but if im not in the mood I dont participate. Take for instance your example. You wrote her and she didnt reply. Take this as a chance for you to catch up, do your work and what not. She'll eventually find you. Basically mind games are a way of affirming that you want her more than she wants you.

Haha, my girlfriend repeatedly name drops friends of hers who are boys to make me jealous, but i genuinely couldn't give a crap. It gets her so angry. :P

Teach her a lesson , when i brushed of a date with my girllfriend because i was busy at work she didnt answer my calls so after th 3rd day i buggered off on a holiday to italy. On my return she was told she could have come if she had bothered to answer her phone, lesson learnt.

Women always play mind games. I don't know if they do it on purpose, or if its a defect that women are born with. Seriously. Guys are logical and go from A to B to C, there's no mind game about it. Women, on the other hand, go A to Z to J to X and bounce around all over the place. I would love it if women all of a sudden just TOLD US what they wanted. /rant

I've found situations like these are generally caused by a lack of communication. Obviously you understand the situation better than I do, but my guess would be she just doesn't know how stressful and/or important your exam is and feels betrayed because you couldn't find the minute or two to reply to her text.

Either she's playing the I'll-be-mad-until-you-beg-for-forgiveness game, or she just finds making your head hurt hilarious. Or both. Also OP, I just noticed your hippo has nipples. It's disturbing me quite a bit.

It was just an example. She could have replied, but chose not to because i hadn't replied to hers as a silly way of 'punishing' me. Mind games.

Moral of the day: women are always right.

Next time you get a text, you answer it, regardless of how busy you are. Just tell her you are busy, don't have the time to talk and if she is understanding, will let you continue. Ignoring someone at any point in a relationship, despite good intentions is never good. The least you could have done was just acknowledged that you got the text and say you are busy.

I personally would just give up on studying, considering my work ethic, and spend the rest of the night talking to her... but that's just me.

lol so true. The worst thing is when a woman is pissed off at you for no reason, you ask "Why are you angry" she says "you know what you did!" So you spend the next few hours trying to figure it out, and you have an epiphany! "Why dont I just apologize and this over with!?" So you go over to her and apologize and she says "You are sorry for what?" and you seriously have no idea what you are supposed to be sorry for and she gets angry again and says "You see, you arent even really sorry!!! *cue fake tears*"

I hate those mind games and I used to play them a lot with an ex. The problem was I would hate being the one to give in even if it was for the smallest things, girls don't like giving in either for some reason and so that's when you stop talking and ignoring eachother. Only way to fix it is be a bigger person and tell her you're sorry even if it wasn't a big deal

I disagree. When just texting general chit-chat like 'hows it going' i think it's safe to assume a person is busy and isn't checking their phone if you don't get a reply, rather than interpreting it as some power play and responding in kind. That's why they're called mind games i guess. She would never admit to deliberately ignoring my calls because i didn't reply to her text, but she knows that's the case. I'm not in high school any more, and while i love my girlfriend very much, i'm a realistic person. It is not my job to satisfy her every whim.

It should be. :P

Seriously though, it is nice to casually respond to someone just to acknowledge their message. Even if you are busy. It takes all of 20 seconds to send a responding text.

"Fine/good/great/dying of exhaustion/etc, I'm a little busy with school work right now, I'll have to talk to you later."

Mind games definitely go both ways or they wouldn't happen. :P I've dated both genders and honestly they're usually equal, although the ways they do it vary. Girls get under the skin a lot easier but guys tend to be more distant, it balances out.

I agree that mind games are stupid and add stress, but you probably shouldn't have ignored her text. She reacted in a lame way, but you started this one.
