It's not really a remake, but I guess someone could see it as that. But it's really the American's take on the book.

I'm really glad they are remaking it... the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was great, but I really want to see quality adaptations of the sequels aswell. The the low budget, poorly directed Swedish versions don't cut it. Oh, and I'm sure the soundtrack will be great. Don't really want to hear it before I've seen the film though. :P

I just hope Rooney Mara can be as good as Noomi Rapace. I mean, she looks scary and all, but not like Noomi, who looks kind of scary, but at the same time, like she could kick your ass.

Not a remake, the movie is based on a book. So it's an adaptation of the book... lol

Says the person TRYING to look smart. Yeah the original trilogy is from Sweden so of course they'd make movie adaptations of the books. Americans read the books too and now they're making an American adaptation of the book. OMG remake of a foreign film! blah blah blah.

Now you're trying to twist what I said to something bad. Wow. It's a Swedish book, made into Swedish movies, American's haven't heard or watch the movies as much as the Swedish have, so they're making an American adaptation from the book, not the movies. And it's David Fincher, the movies will be better than the low budget, made for TV movies that came out a few years ago. Seriously, why would the be making a remake of a movie, that's a adaptation of a book? I guess you don't think. Plus Fincher has a great track record of using the source material down to the T.

LOL, I guess you don't know who David Fincher is. That sucks for you. He just won an oscar and has one of the best track records for movies in Hollywood. It's not being made by some no name like that movies you just listed. And no, I never put words in your mouth because we are typing over the internet, again, THINK! I said, Americans read the books too, so they deserve to have an adaptation of a foreign book too. Go look up David Fincher, and watch the trailer. Watch Se7en, Fight Club, and The Social Network and then come back to talk. Thanks :D!

I'll help you out. Your original argument was that this new movie is a remake of the old one, not based off the book.

I believe you said he was making a remake of the movie, when he is actually making an american adaptation of a foreign book. Not really the same thing. An example of a remake would be something like Dawn of the Dead.

All I know about this movie is that Daniel Craig is in it, and until the next James Bond movie comes out, I'm considering this a James Bond movie and every time someone says his name I'll just pretend they said "Bond".

I did that with Brosnan when he made The Matador while waiting for Casino Royale, I'll do it again here.
