Eh....I grew out of that music long ago.
The Cure, but I don't think anyone here likes them...wrlyy
Very funny....and he's not ready for that genre.
Black Sabbath, AC/DC, or Van Halen.
Also Rise Against is an awesome band. They don't really fit in the category with Metallica, but they're great.

I don't like AC/DC very much so i'll check out Black Sabbath , Van Halen and Rise Against. Keep the recommendations coming!

Alternative...because it's different than what you listen to now. More melody oriented...not fast guitar attacks.
I'm sorry....my Cure sense wasn't tingling.:P7 minutes to reply to a Cure related post? Come on, you can do better than that!

Wolfmother are a throwback to 70's bands. Not metal though. Rock.

I like Judas Priest. Is Wolfmother similar?
Hmm, Metallica is a two-sided coin. If you're into old-school, you need to check out Motorhead, Testament and Annihilator. If you're into new-school, you need to check out Rebel Meets Rebel.
Iron Maiden is power metal, and those kinds of bands are easy to find. So far, the one's I've really liked are Nightwish, Helloween, Stratovarius and of course, Judas Priest
Where to start:
With Testament, just get First Strike Still Deadly. It's a re-recording of some of their best stuff, but with their newer sound. But, it's nowhere near as deathlike as their release previous to it called The Gathering (which is an absolutely stellar album)
With Annihilator, the one's you're going to want to look at are the Alice In Hell/Never Never Land re-release. Either that or Carnival Diablos.
Motorhead, I'd start off with Ace of Spades and then lead up tot their more recent stuff. Their last album, Kiss of Death was a wicked listen.
Rebel Meets Rebel is a cross between metal and country blues. The closest thing I could compare it to is ZZ Top in the late 80's and mid-90's, although it really doesn't sound anything like Afterburner, Recycler, Antenna or Rythmeen. Or a combination thereof. Really good stuff, though, one of Dimebag's last projects. So far as I'm aware of, they only have one release.
Nightwish is in the process of bringing in a new singer, the release that I would start with is Highest Hopes (a greatest hits kind of release) because it covers a fair breadth of the previous singer's work (and she wails).
Helloween has been good enough to re-release their entire back-catalogue. The one i'd start with, though, is The Time of the Oath. Great stuff, sounds a lot like Judas Priest.
With Stratovarius, I'd recommend the Elements series (there's 2 of them). Really well-done stuff.
With Judas Priest, there are periods that you want to avoid. Actually, specific albums, those being Point of Entry, Turbo and Ram it Down (and some would say Demolition). I would start off with Sin After Sin and Stained C-l-a-s-s, but if you want something more recent, Painkiller or Angel of Retribution are both excellent entries.

No.....Priest is more similiar to Ozzy and Maiden.

If you ever want to know what an artist is like, head over to myspace, youtube, or radioblogclub.
Much quicker than waiting for an e-reply. ^_^
