Old theory. Plausible too.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't believe in global warming. It's like that Y2K phenomena which never happened.

Same here. Only reason so many push that humans cause it, is that if you say that, then you'll get more funding to find out how to get humans to undo their damage. However, if its a natural thing, then more research funding and grantsare pointless as there is nothing you can do about it!

That's my take, anyways.

Global warming is not serious yet, but I truly think it will be. Besides, if the **** in the middle east are going to jack up oil prices to no end, I'm all for alternative fuels, and if they help the environment thats all the better.

yea.. it would be a buzz if because of the natural cycle of hot and cold climates.. along with the time it takes for evolution, humans just couldnt go further then 2050.. like every 100 002 050 years the earth just turned into a ball of fire before turning back into what we have now.

Actually, it only gets to the point of world wide droughts, but Developed countries would get by pretty easily. It's what happens next, due to the ocean getting colder because of all the new fresh water from the polar ice caps, it triggers a new ice age.

This has happened many times, without human presence.

Yeah they will. And it will happen. Everyone could switch to electric cars and recycle their trash and itl still happen. One or two volcanoes or a single minor asteroid impact and everything humans did to "stop pollution" would be undone.

Yes the climate change will suck, yes much of the world will be affected, but to be honest, There are going to be many parts of the world, especially the US, that wont notice a thing. Agricultural spots will just need to be moved. Texas, Arizona, Southern states will become perfect for agriculture, and what's more, they still have plenty of flatlands to use for it.

Anyone that believes that humans are the cause of global warming is very misinformed.

Global warming is the universal rise in temperatures around the ENTIRE globe, right?? Then why is it some places over the past 150 years have been getting warmer, while some places are getting colder?? Also why were some temperatures in certain places rising before the 1900's, a time before fossil fuels were burned in massive quantities. Why is it that temperatures on other planets such as mars are also rising of late as well?? They have no greenhouse gas emissions to blame.

Theanswer is that no one knows what the hell is going on with the environment. The amount of greenhouse gases put into the atmosphere by human activity is so tiny compared to the total composition of the atmosphere. It is very unlikely that humans are having anything to do with changes in the environment, and the likely cause is the changing activity of the sun. Anyway thats just my beliefs.

After 40 years of research on this subject, any serious scientist that disputes that humans aren't the CAUSE of global warming is indeed not a scientist at all. There is no such thing as a qualified atmospheric scientist that disagrees with what has overwhelming evidence backing it. If they happen to disagree they are a) not scientists b) bribed to lie

I have studied atmospherics while completing my uni degree in physics and it's pathetic, ignorance is still so strong, then again why am I so surprised, people still worship imaginary dieties. I guess it's too harsh to call such people ignorant, merely misinformed.

We have a clear atmospheric record dating back 600,000 years. In this time ice ages have come and gone at regular intervals. The level of co2 in the atmosphere since industrialization has given us an alarming trend in temperature rise in a very short period of time, when placed against that 600,000 year record. Humans caused this excess co2 in the atmosphere. Humans caused this temperature rise, humans caused global warming.

And by the way, I thought I'd mention this, It's not a theory.

The end.

Even if that theory were to be true than it would still be good to support Global Warming as long as we don't rely on these Mid Eastern Countries and Oil Co's thats making wicked big profits that help only themselves.

Global Warming seems more convincing every year and with factories releasing so much it makes it very plausible as the area around it is clearly affected. Oh and I'm more of a conservative than a liberal. Liberals are a little to... what would the word be "soft"??.

lol and what can humans do to fix this when we cant even get close to the sun???

EXACTLY!! NOTHING! now all we have to do is hope our sun doesnt explode because if that happens then earth is a sitting duck and all life would die.

i don't know why people still argue about it, its been proven. its just that there is a few individuals (usually that work for the coal or oil industry) that try to tell us that global warming is false. although Earth is naturally heating up the CO2 level always was the same as the temperature increase. the problem is that CO2 levels have skyrocketed way beyond the normal levels in the past and the temperature is increasing steadily. we dump over 70 million tons of coal into the atmosphere every day, its real and we have to do something about it before it skyrockets out of control. we used to think that it would take several millenea (sp?) for this to happen and its shortening every single day. its like in the 60s and 70s when the surgeon general stated a warning to the health problems smoking can cause. the tobacco company completely denied it and even stated that niccotine is not addictive. the last thing we want to do is let that happen to global warming.

Wow, it's incredible how sheepish people can be.

Here's some useful information that you'll be able to use time and again.

Anybody can make a movie, documentary, bs information and post it online ect. that's why you should always go with good sources, such as a university study, a study done by a goverment agency or the numerous studies confirming global warming done by the U.N.

So just fyi, just because you find a video on youtube discussing something, take it with a grain of salt, and pay no serious attention to it.

There isn't exactly an "other side" to the global warming debate, not to say one can't be produced, there just haven't been any studies preformed that conflict with the numerous reports showing a planatary temperature increase.

When i talk about the "Other Side" I mean when concerning wether humans caused it or not. To me, there's no real debate about wether the climate is changing. I just think there is valid debate over who is causing it, especially since our history if FILLED with many, many climate changes, some which happened over a very quick timespan.

Kerry lied about everything. Were you under a rock during the 2004 election? The guy flip flopped more than any other politician i've ever seen.

And Dean just lies on a daily basis, I mean, when you claim republicans are all evil warmongers, how is that not lying. Not to mention the democrats at the time of taking 06 Congress seemed to think the public wanted "out of the war". They didnt by the way, 60 percent still supported the war. They just wanted to win it. The democrats conveniently twisted what the 06 election meant. Thepublic wasntvoting for democrats, they were voting to get the republicans out because of their bad performance.

True. But did it have as many cars and factories? At the same time as the increases in history there has been little or no human activity affecting things. Now it's for keeps as far as nature is concerned.

I took a class on global climate change, and I learned a lot about how total earth temperature changes over the years. There are many, many factors. For example, did you know that when continental shift has caused more of the land mass to shift towards the equator, this allows for more plant growth because they prefer the warm climate, which causes there to be much less CO2 in the atmosphere. This in turn leads the world into an ice-age because without a lot of CO2 in the atmosphere, the greenhouse effect isn't enough to keep the earth's surface above freezing.

We also learned that the cyclical patterns of global temperature change do not predict the change in temperature that we have observed. It is only until we include the amounts of CO2, Methane, and other green-house gasses that humans have emmitted recently in history that the data begins to match up with theoretical prediction.

The fact of the matter is that the Earth is a dynamic system, and the total average temperature is cyclical over time. However, the rapid increase in CO2 is much different than the naturally cyclic increases in the past, and our observed increase in temperature is scientifically explained by the greenhouse effect. This means there is more than just correlation, there is causation.

If you would like to know more I'd love to talk about it, I learned a lot in the ****and I think that many of you who do not believe in human caused global warming would benefit in discussing it with me. PM me and I can give you my AIM or MSN accounts.

wouldnt it be crazy is the higher ups created this whole global warming scare as a way to break the worlds dependency on oil? maybe the g8 members are tierd of having the middle east own there economysDeedup

Lol, how does the ME own their economy? The arab countries are already running out of oil. If anything, the U.S. WANTS global warming to stop (e.g. the rumors) so that the arabs can run out of their oil, and we can start making money off of alaska!

Alright, stupid thought. Global warming is true...but i saw an article today that said if all 10000 nukes in the cold war were to go off, only 2% of the ozone would be destroyed, and that would be repaired over time...

ONLY 2% of the ozone layer would be DESTROYED!!! I don't think you understand the ramifications of that. Yes, maybe it would be repaired over time...but that time frame would probably be an astronomical number like 10,000,000 years. Your talking about 2% of the Ozone layer, thats HUGE!!!

It's still 2%. Don't take words like destroyed to harshly. Maybe i should have said 'diluted with radiation' or something. It's easily spread across the system of the Ozone until the radiation no longer matters.

Make up your mind on what you mean...or what your read in some article. Yeah, maybe you should have said "diluted with radiation or something" instead of "destroyed", but it doesn't matter because I think your lying...No disrespect, but I think your full of it. Prove me wrong by showing me what magazine or article published this (mis)information, and I will apologize and eat crow forever.

[QUOTE="MTBare"]I believe in global warming, but I don't believe humans cause it.Tolwan

Same here. Only reason so many push that humans cause it, is that if you say that, then you'll get more funding to find out how to get humans to undo their damage. However, if its a natural thing, then more research funding and grantsare pointless as there is nothing you can do about it!

That's my take, anyways.

Because coal burning power plants and engine exhaust turn to marshmallow butterflies when they hit the atmosphere. It would be one huge coincidence if Global warming was naturally occurring at such an accelerated rate the same time human started pumping massive amounts of CO2 and other gasses into the atmosphere. Natural global warming takes many centuries to show up and cannot account for the rapid increase in global temperatures we have seen in the past 100 years.

15 years ago, extrasolar planets were just a theory and we currently know of hundreds.

If you want, you may choose not to believe in global warming. That's fine. But you can't deny that companies need to find cleaner ways to produce their products. The air quality is decreasing. On certain mornings you can see a light black layer over the city and you just think that something needs to be done. And with the imminent run-out of oil and other fossil fuels, it's inevitable that companies will need to find newer forms of energy. And the quicker they do it, the better.

Good point. No matter what side of the issue people are on. I think we should all agree that less polluting industrial and personal activities can only be a good thing that benefits the health of our planet.

Global Warming reminds me of history when the Roman's were in an outrage once someone defied Early Roman beliefs.
