God I hate G4

I was one of those 10 year olds who watched TechTV religiously during the years that it was on. I loved Call for Help and especially ye' old Screensavers. It was a fantastic show, it didn't take itself too seriously, and it was extremely helpful to those without an IT department.

The channel was centered around tech and computer geeks like us. Sadly, it would end with the G4 merge. :(

TechTV Fans Mad as Hell!

When the merge happened, the fans and especially me were pretty upset. But I remained optimistic because it was assumed that G4TechTV would be everything we loved about TechTV with a little more empahsise on gaming. They also kept the Screensavers on as well as other tech related shows...but then they took shows off...then they added anime...then they added late-night comedies...then they took off the Screensavers. That was the end of the road for me there. I continued to watch Attack of the Show when it was still partly like the Screensavers but as for the rest of the show, screw it! :p

I think after people left like Patrick Nortan and Kevin Rose and after people were fired like Alex Albrecht and Leo Laporte, things started changing more rapidly until finally it abandoned everything that TechTV stood for; exposing people to the world of technology and showing that it's not rocket science like building a computer. ;)

I really don't want to come off as a patronizing ass to those that actually like the channel but I can't help but feel disgusted by what the channel has become and is today. It makes me want to puke babies with the addition of Cops and reality tv, it's like it's trying so hard to compete with Comedy Central and SpikeTV...

Anyways, I just have to do this, sorry guys but this channel is made of complete:

Personally though, like most gamers these days, I get most of my news off the web.

Exactly. Xplay is alright but they, at least to me, seem really biased towards consoles. I like consoles but wheres the PC love?

I use to watch Attack of the Show every day when it was Kevin and Sarah Lane.

Now that they switched it all and went Olivia Munn loving, it just blows. AOTS is barely based on games anymore.

Although Layla Kayleigh is some hot ****.

In that case, they should replace Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Banzuke with MXC. I'd watch that channel a lot more often.

P.S. "Traning Camp" was called "Boot Camp".

icons was really interesting... i wanted to watch it back when they had it but it clashed with the same time i was having a saturday robotics class :(

i only saw the one on miyamoto and that guy behind grand turismo or that driving game.

I share everyones hatred of G4. I started watching it bout five years ago and loved pretty much every show on it (X-Play, Cinematech, Icons, Cheat, Filter). But it all started going downhill when they started showing Star Trek. I'm not blaming ST so please don't get your phasers in a twist trekkies I'm just saying that that seemed to be the turning point of the channel. I started losing interest when they dulled down X-Play and took off Icons and Cheat but I completely gave up on the chennel when Cops started being shown. I recently came back when a friend told me that I had to check out Code Monkeys. I loved that show but it seems they took that off aswell. :(

So yeah **** you G4.

I enjoy watching x-play but that's just me. I really hate that Olivia whatever person from AOTS, she gets on my nerves.

Cheat! was and still is the only good show on g4 now. all the other shows are terrible. especially x-play. the hosts jokes are unbearable, and they're too bias. and the reality shows are horrible as well.

A lot of TechTV fans hated what happened to their channel. But how do you think us old G4 fans feel? We lost everything. Every single show that was on G4 before it merged has now been cancelled. Every last one. I used to love watching Judgement Day, Filter, Cinematech, Pulse, Cheat, and Portal. All the hosts seemed to have a genuine love for gaming. Now the channel is 80% terrible reality shows, and 20% hollow shells of TechTV shows.

I'd also like to state another problem I have with Attack of the Show. It's embrace of internet culture. I spend most of my time on the internet, and if there's one thing I learned, it's that something that's funny on the internet, should stay on the internet. When people start saying "Fail" over and over again, I lose faith in humanity. Because the internet, and real life, are very different things, and they should stay separate. So stop showing Youtube videos and quoting memes. It's horrible.

Yeah it sucks now it's hardly any good anymore. I mean come on Cheaters (seriously my Grandparents likes that show), Cops (that's on like what 3 channels now? Fox, tru, G4), Lost and Heroes (good shows but don't belong on G4). X-play went from video game reviews to another type of AOTS even though it's a bit more focused on gaming. I love Ninja Warrior and AOTS is pretty good but besdes that it's gotten pretty *****y

I remember the GOOD shows in G4, Judgement day is the best review show ever IMO, and it was sad seeing those guys leave, Same for Geoff when his show went off as well, And the old girl who did filter and the guy who did CHEAT!, will always be my favorite even if i dont remember there names.

Man, i wish it would just go back to the way it was, its SO stupid now, nothing is revelant to ANYTHING with tech or gaming, and gamers dont care abour arrested development or Cheaters. WTF where they thinking?

G4 is a PRIME example of mainstream casualization, even AOTS got more "Noobified" later on in its show career. I mean seriously?, Epic Fail? god..

People are still b!tching about this? I'm glad television networks do not greatly impact my life.

i dont hate it. i like Attack of the Show and watch a little xplay, but i dont really like xplay cause they have an obvious Xbox bias. i love the E3 coverage. so i have to disagree. i never watched tech tv though so that might effect my opinion.

I've never watched TechTV, but when the merge occurred a lot of the shows that used to be on G4 were cancelled. I only watch for X-Play now.

I like watching cops, thats pretty much it, in fact its on now.

they only reason the play cops and movies that dont suck is because they dont have enough money to run orginal programming anymore
