Good anime shows/movies for someone who isn't into anime?

I'm not an anime fan, and I find a lot of it to be lame and boring. I did like Death Note and Cowboy Beebop. Basically I'm asking what are some good anime shows/movies that are considered good regardless of being animated?

I hate anime in general, but Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are tolerable.

Death Note. It's one of the few anime/mangas I've experienced that is truly compelling because of the story. You don't have to like the style, the story will suck you in.

Ah sorry, I see you've already read Death Note =D. In that case check out anything Studio Ghibli (thus the sig). These include but are not limited to;

-Spirited Away

-Princess Mononoke

-Nausicaa

Studio Ghibli is like the Pixar of the East, only better. All of their movies are spectacular.

Detective Conan. It makes you think.

berserk, the 1st episopde is very shocking, it will make you watch the rest of the episodes or even read the mange afterwards .

Hayao Miyazaki films are probably your best bet if you've already seen Cowboy Bebop.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso, Howl's Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro are the best places to start.

Death Note: exciting, deep, engenious, unique, english dubbed. (High Schooler finds this notebook that has the power to kill people, and he tries to take over the world)

The Wall Flower: funny, gothic, english dubbed. (Four guys have to turn a super goth girl into a lady. Super funny)

The Host Club: funny, light, a pick-up anywhere show, english dubbed. (A girl that looks like a boy is forced into the high school host club to work off a debt with them after she broke their 8 million yen vase)

That hentai has a similar name but it's not Black Bible.

It all depends on what you like. If you're into dramas and such, check BECK out. If you're into comedies, try the ADV dub of Ghost Stories. If you like action, but hate giant fighting robots, Rurouni Kenshin or Fullmetal Alchemist may be for you. If you do like giant fighting robots, try either Code Geass or most any entry in the Gundam series.

I dislike anime but The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is very good.

Don't feel like listing some out..so here's a pic of my unarchived/active anime folder. I pruned a bunch of (mediocre) stuff out, so most of this is worth looking at imo. Highlighted in grey is the stuff that I'd highly, highly recommend.

96 series and movies listed I think. All of this is from a pretty wide variety of genres (only genre I really lack is action, as I'm not much into high-action anime.)

EDIT: lol, oops. Code Geass R2 should NOT be highlighted.

I as well would recommend Code Gaess and it's second season Code Gaess R2. It is similar to Death Note, which is an anime you liked, so you should give it a shot. The first few episodes are meh, but it REALLY picks up afterwards.
