Honestly none is a great right now for small business. Which is what sounds what you want to do. Its just a horrible time to start a business
If you're starting your own business - only you can decide that. We don't know your skills or your trades. If you're good at fixing computers then building houses might not be a good business to start...

He can rent equipment like carpet cleaners or other things like that and provide services for people.
If you want something that will last then, like another person said, liqour stores are going to become a booming business when the economy crashes and people become depressed and drink themselves to sleep every night.

You can't just start a business because you feel like starting a business. It has to be something you are passionate about, or there is not point in doing it. Remember, 50% of new businesses fail within the first two years. Starting a business is more than just deciding to do it. You need to know your market and your competitors if you want to have a chance, and you won't make any real profits for the first couple years. He can rent equipment like carpet cleaners or other things like that and provide services for people.

Some states, particularly in the state of NJ, can charge as much as $700,000 for a liqour license. That could be a terrible idea. Nermind he'll likely need close to $30,000 alone for his initial stock.

Last year I formed a concession stand with a few classmates and made decent profit for what days we did it (it was only a school project, nothing serious). I think we started off with a $5000 capital.[QUOTE="Lovely637"]I wish to start my own business but I don't know what business to have. Dude, you don't have to do that. According to the Honorable Barack Obama someone else does all the work for you, for free. Didn't you know slavery was legal?

Haha,, Is that really considered a business? hehehe
It's a service business, it's the same as if you pay someone to mow your lawn. You're paying for a service, not a product, or I guess you could be renting a product(vagina). If you're starting your own business - only you can decide that. Thank you for that. I am looking forward to a piggery or internet cafe. Which do you think is better?

I just thought of a good one that only direction is upwards:
Robotics. If you can dig it.

Maybe; But the kind of knowledge required to do that is pretty high. If the TC had that level of knowledge, he wouldn't be asking for ideas for a business; He'd be working for a company or starting his own with no help from random people in a forum.
