I was wondering if anyone could recommend some decent Emo bands. I'm looking for bands similar to Cap'n Jazz, Saves the Day, Sunny Day Real Estates, etc. (Thanks in advance)

Actually the stuff from the 90's isn't that bad.The thread title is a contradiction in terms.
You might as well ask me for a round triangle.savebattery
That would be fineI would recommend some bands but genres are so intertwined these days they might not even be considered "emo" and be put in another catergory.

Good...emo...bands...jalexbrown
Emo=/=Scene trash.
I'm not all that well versed in emo, but I've heard Fugazi is good? Other then that check out some Swans for Goth/Post-Punk (sort of same genre?)
You kinda listed all the bands I know of from that scene.

I'm not sure, but I think pre-Decemberunderground AFI would fall into the emo cathegory, and they were pretty damn awesome. Just stay far away from Crash Love and Decemberunderground (the newest albums) and you should be fine.
I think Slit my wrist and hope not to die is a pretty good band lol.GrandJuryStereotypes are awesome lol.
I enjoy AFI's old stuff it was pretty good.I'm not sure, but I think pre-Decemberunderground AFI would fall into the emo cathegory, and they were pretty damn awesome. Just stay far away from Crash Love and Decemberunderground (the newest albums) and you should be fine.

Here, I will give you a legit answer. Seeing as I actually enjoy real emo and hardly anyone in this thread knows what that is. Texas Is The Reason are probably my favourite emo band. Rites of Spring, Jawbreaker, Archers of Loaf, Jawbox, On The Might Of Princes for more melodic emo. Bands that I would suggest for more screamo/emo would be Glassjaw, pg. 99, Swing Kids, Orchid, City of Caterpillar. More easily accessible bands would probably be the early stuff from Taking Back Sunday, Brand New and Jimmy Eat World. Hope I helped. EDIT: Forgot to mention Drive Like Jehu, one of my favourite ones.xTheExploitedThank you, and I love Brand New got to see them play last year.
Cry Myself To Sleep, Ow My Wrists are Bleeding, Nobody Loves Me, I Cried Till' I DiedCHOASXIIIstereotypes are fun!

as has been stated american football is also good. fugazi in some respects is considered emo. say hi to you mom. but they are more indie than emo. as cities burns is hella good. underoath if you like the posthardcore. efff it. just listen to what catches your interest. its all good. my genres are ska, emo, indie, and post-hardcore. all grounds covered. music for all situations. just give me a scene where the music is free and the beer is not the life of the party
alexisonfire's first album is awesome. first two albums were great imo as was the switcharoo album, the stuff now is good but just not the same[QUOTE="Unknownmuncher"]go for older stuff like alexisonfire, funeral for a friend, boysetsfire, tbs, the used, brand new, thursdaySuperSaiyanLink

Can this thread just die, please?NO it can not unless the mods wantto lock it up of course. Hopefully they let the thread last a tad bit longer since they are people contributing to the topic instead of bashing the music with no common knowledge of the matter and with stupid stereotypes.rockerbikie
