Its hard to avoyd playing as evil when every game is about American soldiers being heroes and keep saying: Hey America didn't commit any war crimes in WW2. Or they invade a poor defence less country at makes it even worse than it was before they came. But in war there are no black and white sides. But playing as Americans points at the villain way.
Evil often has more fun stuff, look at LotR for example, as the Witchking you get an Fell Beast, a cool helmet and robe, a flaming sword and a huge mace. And Sauron's armour is also badass. Then there is Star Wars, Darth Maul is the most badass looking Sith/Jedi there is (although Samuel L Jackson is pretty badass).
Although there are some really lame looking evil people, and some cool good ones, so I suppose either.

Yeah, but black is more of a badass colour than white, so the Evil people always look more badass (except the occasional few good guys like Batman) Although I do like the Aragorn brown cloak and stuff type thing, I wish I had clothes like that (and could wear them without looking like a tramp or a cosplay nerd.)
