Good strength symbol for a tattoo?

I am going to get a tattoo. I know that I want a strength symbol as the tattoo but the problem is I don't know which one to get. I was looking at some japanese and celtic symbols but that is all I am really working with right now. I want one that has a deep meaning on why the symbol stands for strength and maybe one with a good history behind it

Japanese symbols are always the best way to go when you want a new tat.

You'll only see the coolest of cats wearing them.

Translation is no biggie either. Online translators always give proper meanings.

I don't understand why people ask others what kind of tattoo they should get. You don't have any emotional connection to the symbols you don't know a damn thing about.

The only exception is something like rawson's thread because he was merely looking for suggestions on text/language but he actually knew and felt a personal connection with the meaning of his quote.

Is it really the Japanese symbol you want? Cause honestly those things are trendy as all hell. And a few people I know who got one as their first tattoo, have since regreted it, and are looking to get it removed. Maybe something along the lines of an original picture, or small graphic of some kind. Just a suggestion

tattoos should be a personal thing. you should NEVER allow someone else to choose what you have.

YOU and you alone have to live with it tattooed on your arm. and as such, choices should be made by you and no one else.

But,

If you want my two penneth, the japanese koi or koi-dragon is a symbol of strength and overcoming struggle and adversity

I would recommend this one.

I would suggest the emblem of the Finnish Airforce, it is rather interesting and it certainly requires a fair bit of courage to wear.

I would like to again state that this is the flag of the Finnish Airforce and has nothing to do with the German govenment of the second Wold War.

If you don't mind me asking, what ethinticity are you? People sometimes get tatoos to feel related to their roots, somehow. A Filipino who has lived abroad would get "strength" written in the ancient Filipino script , a Chinese-American would get it in Chinese, an Indian would get the word in Sanskrit, etc. You could go with the language your blood line ancestors used, so that your tatoo has a more personal meaning.
