so i was thinking about this and i have noticed something in my school. the popular kids are always the kids who state their mind and talk alot not caring what other people think. the more the people talk the more they are noticed and the more they are seen as fun and not shy. for me i find it very hard to start conversations up its not that i dont want to but im not strong in that stuff. so i thought to myself what would happen if i try to answer almost every single question, that i know how to asnwer ,that the teacher asks. im pretty sure this will make me more noticed and let people know your less shy and thye might even start convos with you leading to other things! so whats your opinion does this make sense?

Ofcourse it does. Being able to answer questions you know answers too (without overdoing it) is a great way to show you're confident enough in yourself and in your opinion/answer to share it with others.

This won't work unless you actually don't care what people think of you, and it even if you don't this alone won't work. You still have to be able to go up to people and start conversations, in all likelyhood they are not going to be coming up to you and hand you a friendship.

Are you sure the popular kids aren't just the rich kids who can afford to speak their mind?

Hmm well I've found I always speak my mind and I've been labelled the 'weird know it all'. The popular kids stay quiet unless it's to take the mess out of another pupil/teacher or make a joke about what's been said.

Well I never attained popularity, hell I could say any attempt was dead after the 3rd year I think it became a matter of blending in with the shadows.

Being popular at my school essentially means being a rich prep who has a car and is available for partying entailing drinking, sex and drugs at any hour of the week

I'm popular enough and I'm happy with my friends/who I'm friends with.

I think that it's always important to be socially active, because that is a skill you'll need in the future.

But, what you said isn't necessarily the answer. Of course stating your opinion in the classroom is really important, but it shouldn't be looked as a way of becoming popular, but as a way of showing you think and have your own views on certain subjects.

Don't try to become popular at force, be yourself. Popularity is over-rated, having friends and being morally reasonable are what I value the most.

oh yeah another important thing i forgot to say...

i also noticed that when the popular kids answer questions it isnt just simple one word answers they speak their mind and have a very convincing manner (dont know how to explain) that makes the whole class just want to listen.

Well thats the first step. Getting involved and getting your name and image out there in a positive way is a great way to maintain it. Being confident is always the key. Confidence in yourself helps you project well to others, makes you funny (even if you're not that funny -- if you can laugh at yourself others will laugh with you, not at you).

It should really be common sense... but having the guts to pull it off (confidence) is what is lacking with many.

it only works if you are less shy, it's not answering questions that makes you popular, it's being confident and outgoing that makes you both popular and answer questions

thats so true! i know i have the phyical side down but its the inside that im working on. women see me as cute but when i blush they just back away and damn they can always tell if a boy is not confident or not sometimes even when they dont blush.
i also noticed that some popular kids just because who they are and how they are know as can get away with saying anything thats not really funny (kind of hard to understand). like in my ****there are poular kids who say jokes that arent just funny at all and people laugh but i know their not laughing because its funny but because whos saying it. im certain that if i said the exact same words that every1 thought to be funny no one would laugh.

I was I guess what you would call popular. I went to a high school of 4,000 kids.. so there was more of just different "groups". But I was a starter on the varsity basketball team, so thousands of students and fans came to the games, so I was known from that. Plus, many of the "popular" kids played sports. So I was friends with all of those guys. Our football team sucked, and the basketball team went to state 3 years in a row and won once.. so we were the **** around campus. I wasn't a stereotypical stuck up guy though, because I didn't have to work at being popular. Just being a starter on the state champion basketball team and being friends with everybody in the school made me popular.

I guess what I'm getting at is, you don't have to be a natural attention getter. Join a sport or something and make friends with the popular guys that way.

Absolutely. Its all about delivery and working the crowd. And it always... ALWAYS... stems down to confidence.

Whats wrong with wanting to be confident, get better grades, be socially active? Popularity is a potential side-effect of all of that, yes... but doesnt hurt him one bit.

[QUOTE="Shiro-kun"]Just wondering.. why do you want to be unnaturally popular?Sajedene

How do you be unnaturally popular?

By being a lamer, who does stuff other people do, just because he wants to be like them.

Whats wrong with wanting to be confident, get better grades, be socially active? Popularity is a potential side-effect of all of that, yes... but doesnt hurt him one bit.

Well, there's nothing wrong with that, except for the fact that popularity is his main goal, when it shouldn't.

wnting to be confident ect is fine but likeing a band or activity because it makes you popular isn't, you'll end up just being popular with people you don't really like

Very few people can actually pull of faking to get in. They reek of desperation and patheticness. A lot of them get eaten alive.

I still dont know why a lot of people think that its that easy to pretend to like something around people who geniunely like something.
