[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]Strange. Opera is noticeably faster than Chrome on my computer. I also added the Off-Topic Discussion to my speed dial with no difficulty. It's unfortunate to hear that you're having difficulties. You are using Opera 10.50 and not the beta or something, right?BiancaDK
yes, ofcourse. =| The point of my earlier post was, yes, it may very well be noticeably faster than chrome on your computer, but the results you acquire on your computer will not always translate to the results other people get on their computers, with their connection speeds, apps etc. That's why you can't really say Opera is the fastest browser out there, because results may vary, and they do -- it's been proven over and over again.

The general consensus in the world of IT has accepted that Opera has surpassed Chrome in terms of speed. Going by your logic, one can never really argue that any browser is the fastest. Chrome was not the fastest before Opera 10.50 came out either, then. All the headlines are wrong.

No, the general consensus is that Chrome is faster than Opera, going by the sheer quantity of tests showing chrome coming out ontop of various test results. All the headlines are wrong? Stop denying reality, you can google or bing this yourself, there are literally hundreds of noteworthy sites and blogs out there supporting my argument.

a link to opera, showing an article written by an opera employee, disproving my claim of opera not being the fastest? are you even serious right now?

Because they won't get called out for manipulating the tests, right? How about you check the data itself before claiming paranoia? Fine, have a test from Google. Since it's Google, Chrome should be at the very top, right?

I think chrome just came out for the mac. I remember when I first used chrome on a pc it would freeze when playing flash vids. Has this changed, is it still an issue, is it only a PC issue.

oh wow, "This experimental plot illustrates how the latest stable versions of the most popular browsers perform compared to each other when running Sputnik on Windows XP."

clearly this is undeniable, uniform proof of opera's superiority.

Oh and i'm sure google manipulated hundreds of website browser test results and blogs, they're practically the more colourful illuminati of the internet.

I'm just being honest about something product package designers take advantage of in the real world. It's very simple: if your product doesn't look good, it won't sell as well. It's stupid, and I'm more than willing to admit so, but damn, something about that icon.

Right Click >> Properties >> Change Icon Sroblem Polved.

The new Opera icon is a vast improvement over the old one anyway, though. The old one was peculiar...and crap.

A browser may load web pages faster but it may not run faster. I have tested load times on various computer setups and have found that a browser may require more system resources that causes it to be slower even though it can pull stuff off the net faster. For example firefox is faster then IE. However from experience I know the older version of firefox used more memory then the last version of IE. So on PCs with less memory IE would run faster cause firefox would require more memory swaps. So in essence each machine's configuration can change the speed results.

That's just a javascript test, though. Even assuming that graphic was infallible it's still just javascript.

I suppose we should all do that to see what works best for us then since there seemingly is no definitive answer.

I agree. I don't know why people say Opera is NOW faster than Chrome. I don't care about these benchmarks. Stopwatch or I don't care. Opera has always been better for me.

So I did a Google search on the subject we were discussing earlier and I googled "Is Chrome faster than Opera 10.50" to attempt to get the data you said was all over the Internet. I checked the first 5 pages of results and couldn't find a thing. I am not trying to come across as obnoxious, I am just genuinely interested in the subject matter. Here's the first page. Could you point me towards your sources? I am not coming up with anything on my end.

[QUOTE="Darth-Caedus"]I use Opera. Fastest I've used, easily has the best interface of any browser out there, and the most fully featured browser at install.

In my experience, Opera is the slowest off all the web browsers. Chrome is both the fastest and the most secure. Looks nice too.

AirGuitarist87

Right click taskbar

unlock it if it's locked

two vertical dotted lines should appear on both ends of the taskbar

drag the one one the right as far as possible to the left

it should reset back to the right with your icons after it

then drag it left again until icons are centered

lock taskbar

That only shows Javascript performance. Full bench: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/firefox-chrome-opera,2558.html Though it's really moot as you're talking about, at most, differances of a quarter second. Also your connection speed is going to have much more effect than browser choice will (except perhaps with ie).

I don't use Opera because, quite literally, the icon is too repulsive for me. I guess I can't miss what I've never had.

I actually agree with you on this, I'm much more satisfied clicking the Chrome logo or the Fox around the earth than an ugly O. :P

Cheers, mate. I hope someone makes a proper program so it acts more like a Mac dock, I don't like how the programs just add to the right. :P

I use Firefox with Adblock Plus, ABP: Elemental hiding helper, No scrip, and Better privacy because I'm paranoid. :P To me, Firefox is faster than other browser and I have tried; IE, Chrome, and Opera. Opera used to be my favorite but for some reason the new versions are slow to me. Also, No Scrip is so awesome! Even if you didn't had ABP you could still block ads with it by just blocking the advertiser's website/script. So not only am I blocking ads, I'm blocking tracking devices that count me as a viewer on a webpage. Now if I could, I would stop posting here so I can be a complete ghost on the Internet.
