I don't know how new this news is, but thought I'd share.
Google are delving into the world of social networking with a product called Google Wave.

Will it beat Facebook I suppose is the killer question.

Google Earth will pwn them all.
Google Wave will let you find people by satellite, staring down at them at all times! :oThis reminds me of the movie Enemy of the State.
Google has ex-CEO's and board members high up (COO, etc.) in Facebook's staff already and they've secured several deals. They also have a $900 million agreement with Myspace for advertising and other rights. It's like Google already owns both of them pretty much...
Personally, I don't think we need anymore social networking sites. I think thereare enough out there already.
Hey, you can never have enough. It's my dream to one day be so popular that I never want to leave home.Personally, I don't think we need anymore social networking sites. I think thereare enough out there already.

Google Wave will let you find people by satellite, staring down at them at all times! :o hooray!! now it is even easier to stalk people!! wait...Social networking sites get a bad rep I think. Don't see anything wrong with keeping in touch with friends and family through them, they are very useful.
In terms of Google.. innovation can only be a good thing right?
That's true that they get a bad rep, but I think part of it has to do with how much trouble they cause with kids. I can't remember the girl's name (think it was megan), but she commited suicide because someone was harassing her over myspace. I'm not saying that that is the fault of the social networking site, but I'm saying that when you are on the internet, you are anonymous and have a certain power to say and do what you want, and many people end up abusing that power, and people can get very hurt by it.Bloody heck... I really think the social networking trend/fad (depending on how you look at it) needs to die.Setsa
I don't, it is a good way to stay intouch and find information about things easily with my friends who I cannot see on a daily basis.
