Im taking my driving test next Tuesday, im fairly confident im going to pass my second time. But if the worse happens like running over the pope he's still in the UK right? Anyway there changing the UK driving test on the 10th of October i believe. Basically instead of the examiner telling you go right or left etc. He tells you where to go and you have to follow the road signs which adds to the pressure of making a mistake. So.... Im on a must pass situation or i will need more lessons i don't need to get used to driving by road signs.

Any tips or advice about your driving test experiences :?

Just remain calm about it. If you tense up during the test you are more liable to make a mistake. That is the only real advice I can give.

Well, here in Ontario, Canada the driving tests are run by a privately owned company whose main goal is making as much of a profit off you as they can. It costs around $100 for the first test and $40 for the subsequent tests. We also have to pass two road tests (a 15 minute and a 45 minute one) within a five year period or else you have to start the whole process all over again. Some testing centres in the province have a failure rate of 30% whilst some have it at 80%. Sadly, the only one that was within 150km of my area had a failure rate at around 68%. I had to take the first one three times and passed the second one on the first time by some miracle. I do however know people who have failed 6 and 7 times, though most will get it after 2 or 3 tries. Yes, it is bull**** but they are always fully booked months in advance this way so they don't care because the money just keeps rolling in. Good luck with yours, don't think about it and just drive.

I failed mine the first time, because my mom forgot to register the car. Second time when I actually got to do it I passed, just don't be nervous. I know you really want it, but if you're perpared you should have no problems.

I literally made my tester shout out during my driving test. I guess you arn't supposed to give the car gas when backing up. Anyways, even after I almost gave the old bat a heart attack I still passed. I don't know what they're grading on, but if I passed it shouldn't be that difficult.

You just have to floor it and hit as many pedestrians as you see.

Also, don't forget to steal a couple different cars during the test, to prove you can drive anything!

It is changing on the 4th of October. Basically you will only be required to perform one driving manoeuvre and 10 minutes of your driving test will be occupied by your examiner giving you a set of directions in which you need to follow to reach a particular destination.

I have my driving test on the 6th of October so only two days after the changes come into place. It will be my second time taking it, after I failed my first. I wasn't ready the first time plus my examiner was very harsh. Whilst giving me my test results I struggled to remember the things he marked me down for. But apparently the test centre that I went to is known for having very strict examiners and has quite a low pass rate. My current driving instructor also confirmed this. He told me that one of his students once failed their driving test at that particular test centre simply because he waited on a zebra crossing for a pedestrian to cross all the way to the other side of the road, rather than just waiting for them to cross his path. He was failed was delaying traffic.

Best of luck.

here the best idea. put seatbelt on when the guy comes adujust the mirror both inside and out. drive speed limit pay attetion to what they ask you to do. don't worry if you make a mistake here or there it shouldn't hurt that bad.

My brother went through like two yellow lights and got 20 points on his driving test and pass. i was driving a bit slow since i was not use to my mom's car. on teh highway but he ask me to back up in parking space. and than i went around. use your blinkers stop at stop sings yelid at yelid sings. stop at red lights. slow down if its a yellow light. and please don't fail again :P

That is so true. I don't think I ever played a GTA game where I actually did more than a couple hours of missions. I just drove around and did all the things listed in that picture :P

Had my driving test last 2 weeks. Basically over here, you'll need to pass on the slope, parallel park and 3 point turn which is half the part. The other part is the roadtest where they'll give you a road you'll have to memorise all the turns during the test.

Same here lol.

On topic: I think you'll be fine. Relax. concentrate on everything around you, and keep focused on what you have to do.

I passed my test in April this year. The whole test i felt sick, and sweated like a pig, but i held it together..and passed :)

Good luck though.

Dont brake with your left foot...Witchsight

Heh heh heh ;)

1.) Make sure you look both ways if you're crossing over train tracks. That is what got me on mine (I didn't fail though).

2.) Come to complete stops behind stop signs or cross walk lines if you're at a light.

3.) Remember to buckle your seat belt at the beginning of the test. That is an automatic failure I believe now.

4.) Drive with both hands on the wheel

5.) Practice parallel parking before the test. This used to be the hardest part for some people, I'm not sure if they still do it.

6.) Don't speed. I'd like to think that would be obvious though.

7.) Use your blinkers

I've got my test soon too. I'm cool with the driver not telling me where to go. My problem is parking and observing. Apperantly if the examiner doesn't think you're observing properly then he has the right to fail you, even if you dont crash. Oh yeah and i hate it when a bus driver has his signals on for about 5 mins and still doesn't go. If some of these bus drivers drive any slower then they'll be going backwards.

Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait You... don't want to take a test that ACTUALLY tests your ability to DRIVE properly? You would rather just get a license and learn by trial and error on the road? *shakes head*

What's wrong with this? If you can't follow the signs you don't belong on the road.

I can follow road signs just fine. Its the extra lesson to put into practice which i dont need. I can drive alot of people can, but they make mistakes on there test from nervs or other prat drivers on the road. And learning to drive in the UK is. £££:o£££
