Well, in the USA there are definitely noise laws, but they are usually only enforced after 9Pm. I used to have an obnoxiously loud speaker system in my old car, and I got pulled over for it once. The cop I got just warned me, but I have had friends who got a ticket for it; I believe they have some kind of a decibel meter that they can actually pull out if need be.
Anyway, while it was certainly annoying when it happened to me, you cannot argue with it being illegal... I live in a city, and it can be pretty disruptive and aggrivating when someone's bass is reverberating through your house at night, especially when it's really late. Every time I hear one of those cars drive by I cringe a little knowing that I used to sound like that.
Now if only there was something I could do about the garbage trucks slamming around at 5Am..
I got 3 points on my liense for just blasting music when i was driving through peckham (South London) seriously out of order the police 2day you get cussed for nothingHitman_KyeZ
Strange about the points on your liscence, it isn't to do with your actual driving
My brother got in all kinds of trouble for muffler and noise violations here in the States when this big Fast and the Furious craze hit. His lowered civic on rims with flashy decals attracted a lot of attention from police with nothing better to do.
Guess you need to turn it down a little, or change your driving pattern.

If it was a smoother ride and the bass didn't drown out any other parts of the lyrics or treble, yea, it would have been.
[QUOTE="firebreathing"]I see no need for people to broadcast their music to everyone else in a 100 foot radius >___>
duxup
Same here. You can play a car stereo plenty loud and still not make everyone else around you have to listen to it.
Yup. That **** is so annoying at night. I wish those kind of officers were more common in my area.
I wish they would do that here. I hate when morons drive down the street and I hear THUMP--THUMP-THUMP--THUMP--THUMP-THUMP or what have you. It's especially annoying if you live close to a somewhat busy street and it's like a daily thing. If you need to hear your music that loud to feel like a badass, wear headphones. You aren't impressing anyone.
Loud music is a problem in plenty of cities. It is illegal in plenty of places. It is also a law that is not always enforced. Most of the time the police use it as a reason to pull people over and "look" for other violations.
So, I would have to say I bet you are lucky they only got you for loud music.
