LoLz, this could only happen in Utah, Arizona, or Texas.

Exactly. How the heck can an illegal immigrant pay into social security and have an SSN? :P[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"][QUOTE="Darkainious"]

Exactly. How the heck can an illegal immigrant pay into social security and have an SSN? :PI am not surprised.. I honestly think some of the illegal immigrant hatred is racially motivated.. Now this isn't suggesting that every one who thinks its a important issue or want them all deported are racist.. Just saying.
Even though the list is fake, it is concerning. So we are even allowed to report people that are breaking the law anymore? Thats just sad.
Edit: Just clearing up my idea so I don't appear as a racist or whatever. If it was a list of drug runners or what have you, the police would be hitting the locations left and right. But since its a list of "illegal immigrants" it can just pass without even the slightest investigation? I'm not saying this is legit or not, I'm just saying that maybe they should look into it a little bit.
[QUOTE="clayron"]How do illegal immigrants get SSNs?TheokhothBy becoming legal immigrants.
Yeah, funny how that works. Maybe the list makers didn't think that one through properly? :P
It's not unknown....LJS9502_basicUnless their SSNs are forged, you cannot pay into social security and have a unique social security number and at the same time be an illegal immigrant.

1) It wasn't just passed to police. It was sent to the police, the media and generally circulated around peoples homes all over Utah. 2) The people on the list *aren't* illegal immigrants, they're just hispanic. Take your analogy about a list of drug dealers; how would you feel if it gave the names and addresses of all those people and spread that information right across the state, and they actually weren't drug runners but perfectly normal, decent people?Even though the list is fake, it is concerning. You can be pretty safe to say that a Hispanic person who doesn't speak English is illegal, and that is the cold hard truth.Even though the list is fake, it is concerning. [QUOTE="Grodus5"]You are right, I correct my intial idea, however, I still believe that both crimes should be investigated. Case closed.Ninja-HippoWhat second crime are you referring to? Being an illegal immigrant. Contrary to popular belief, that's a crime. Now I know that that they probably AREN'T illegals, but back to the drug analogy. If someone tipped off cop someone was a drug dealer, don't you think the cops should investigate just a little? If they are legal, then they should have nothing to fear.

Like the story says, the list has terrorized many hispanic families. Besides, they're not illegal aliens anyway. The article says they have social security numbers. The impression i got is that a bigoted group of people simply rounded up the names, addresses and personal information of any hispanic people they knew, then demanded they be deported. Heck, there are babies on the list.

They investigated him and searched his house.
Second...contrary to popular opinion...illegal immigrants ARE capable of getting fake SSN.

That's not comparable to having people falsely investigated on a wide scale because of the way they look. Like i said, forgery can obviously take place, but if this information was obtained from government records as the police believe i can't see how that could be fake. Unless illegal immigrants are hacking into government files. :P[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]That's actually an accurate analogy. Or is just specific races that more apt to garner your sympathy?SSN numbers....are goverment issue. An employer would have all the information and it would go to the government. I don't see how that means they can't...not saying they are.....be fake.
It's a bad thing to investigate families, women and children because some bigoted group put them on a list and demanded they be deported based on *nothing* other than the way they look. I'm not a fan of racial profiling. Ever read 1984? "Be a patriot! Be an informant!" However, as yet we don't know if these people are innocent as there has been no investigation. It is worrisome that government files can be hacked though.
As for all.....there are quite a lot of illegal immigrants so it's possible whoever did this either A...had hard evidence and turned it in...or B....just picked names and sent them in. But we can't say with any authority until an investigation is done if they are illegal or not.
