Now, before anyone go berserk about the poor fighting skill of the US forces the speaker says, remember to put ideology in perspective. US soldiers in Afghanistan have no real belief and what they may have had, has been slowly eroded by the rules of engagement and the economic turmoil at the homeland. the chaos and strife is causing them to question the purpose of the afghan war. The speaker, I think, is giving a fair and accurate comment on the weak US forces compared to the far more ferocious Soviet Army that invaded in the 80's.

I think the events taking in Afghanistan should serve as a wake up call to all the young Americans who believe in US ideals and how they can sometime hamper the effectiveness in war fighting. IF you arent prepared to sacrifice your standards, then why waste lives and money? Just call it quits, apologize and move on.

I stopped watching, because the news source is Russia Today and the guy is saying how wonderful Russia was during the Afghan War. Also, the American ground forces under McChrystal are communicating and winning the Afghans over by not taking stupidrisks and killing indiscriminately like the Taliban in which now the Afghans have more of a disfavorable view of the terrorists than they do of the Americans and coalition forces.

It's easy to pack up and retreat. But then we forget why we were there: To find Osama Bin Laden, end the Taliban's stronghold, and give the people the chance to live their lives freely. It just destroys the entire purpose and would be insulting (or if not, more insulting) to those who died on 9/11.

Do u really think the US is winning the Afghans over! Do you not read the news? In the past two weeks Afghans have been frustrated with US drones killing innocent civilians more than militants haha and do u really think afghans like US forces more than the taliban? I mean the taliban are probably very frustrating people but nobody ever roots for the occupying force! Afghans have always fought outside forces and whoever comes between there internal affairs. trust me the faster we get out the less embarrassment we will have to endure cause afghans are very hard headed people that truly believe in there ideology and there religion. And plus the only real reason why we are there is because of Iran not because of Osama bin Laden or other militant groups.

i think that the war is kind of going in a new direction. with the invasion of the town Marjha. yes there were civilian casualties, but they are driving out the insurgents there, and are trying to bring the civilians as much aid as possible. On another note the u.s. military happens to be the most powerful in the history of the world. yes if they tried to invade a country like russia or china they would get messed up, but in terms of numbers, training, spending and technology they are at the top.

While the US have by far the better military, Al Qaeda is a fractured organization: It is harder to wipe out an entire swarm of killer bees than to kill a single tiger with your gun.

Also, the insurgents are people with little to lose; hence they will battle with more unpredictability and ferocity.

The US has no choice but to keep going and hope to catch Bin Laden otherwise all the dead soldiers would have perished in vain and the American people will never be able to swallow the failure to capture Bin Laden.
