"The Spirit Carries On (skip to 2:50 for the solo)" by Dream Theater has a slow moody solo which really does fit the ending to the album "Metropolis Pt 2 Scenes from a Memory."

Shesmovedon is a close second place for PT's solos IMO. Don't Hate Me (live version) is worthy of mention too.
