Ricky gervias co-wrote co-produced and co-directed with stephen merchant the office for bbc which has become one of the greatest comedies of all time with spin offs made in the usa and all over the world , Karl pilkington is a mate he randomly met while working on a london based radio station XFM (simon pegg and nick frost of shaun of the dead/ hot fuzzalso worked on their own radio show there). Ricky and Steve were randomly placed with Karl as a producer for the show, started off normal enough but later on once they got too know Karl pilkington it became comedy gold becuase of his stupid-ness.
