Guitar - lasts a lifetime, and could possible teach you something that can entertain yourself, and others. Girls dig it.
PS3 - Gives you 5 minutes of satisfaction, which you will probably regret afterwards. Last less then 5 years.
The choice is simple.
Music is the best part of life. PS3 has no games. Doesn't seem that hard to choose.DrummerJon
Might want to check out what happened at E3 this year. Sony's Press conference was amazing with the games.
Before anyone calls me a fanboy I'm not... I own all 3 consoles..

Eh, even if a lot of good games come out I can't imagine a console being better than music. I'm more of a PC gamer anyway...i agree with your friend's choice, which would u think is more satisfying: beating Resistance n Motorstorm on your brand new PS3 or writing your own music or learning how to play your favorite song on a guitar? I'd choose a guitar over a PS3Adept_Of_Evil
How's "writing your own music" a satisfying activity to do? Sounds more like homework to me (BOORRRIINNG). Not to mention that just earning how to play a guitar isn't exactly a fun thing to do either (it was frustrating as hell when I tried). I think I'd rather listen to my favorite song than waste endless hours struggling learning howto play it. I personally don't see why people are so hyped about guitars today, they're a waste of money in my opinion. If you really want to impress the ladies, then play a sport.
Saving up for a nice car would have been a much wiser investment (he already had $600, he should have kept saving).

Sounds to me like you have no depth, thats why you dont understand the art and satisfaction of writing.
