Ya, I remember when I was a little kid until about high school everyone would constantly overuse gay Once I got out of high school I barely heard it too much unless I was joking around with my brother and we are both adults :P. We dont even think about actual homosexual people when we use it though so I can see what you mean.

yeah same here. i guess it's a habit i need to break. i really don't mean anything bad against homosexuals though its just a word i use in the wrong manner.
it dosent make sence? People at my shool that "think" their cool say it and im always like, "do you even know what that word means?" then they are speacless and im like "I THOUGT SO :P"
the definition of the word just change. 50 years ago - Gay meant happy. 20 years ago - Gay meant Homosexuals, nowadays it means bad, or stupid. It just changed. You dont need to get all sensitive about it.

Ummm. I don't think he was bragging about it, per se. I also dislike when people say "that's so retarded." Many people find it a habit that is hard to break, but I believe it needs to go, much like the n-word has.

"Retarded" is also another word used negatively that will get people in trouble.
I say that plenty. I do think it's overused and though it's not synonymous with stupid it's not just limited to meaning happy or refering to a sexual orientation.

Exactly. I don't get why people get so worked up about saying gay It has more then 2 meanings now. I understand there is better ways to describe something bad/stupid, but it's a habit now.
Heh, I don't care. I use it all I like. It's not cursing; its not even derogatory to homosexuals. Gay used as "stupid" holds a different meaning. You are not equating a homosexual to the target of ridicule. You're simply slapping on the same label...kind of like using "cool."
For some reason i hate it when people use g@y for saying that something is stupid. Like when their like "Thats so g@y man." What do you guys think?partyman879
