Halo Pro Fascist?

I read a comment on the internet today that described the UNSC Marines as being portrayed as good but work for a futuristic representation of the real world United Nations. The same organisation that condones the interference in peaceful foreign states such as North Korea and Iraq and yet ignores the slaughter that occurs in places like Syria.

Any thoughts on that?

personally I would've preferred if the Halo characters (MasterChief, the ODST rookie, Noble Team member six, etc.) fought as U.S. personnel rather than UN Space Command. But it's possible in Halo that there is still national sovereignty and separate countries, but that the war against the Covenant has led to a large omni-national coalition under a unified command (i.e. the UNSC).

I think the covenant are more facist/religious extremists than anything else the UNSC does. The UNSC is fighting to save humanity

The Korean war ended in 1953. Since then sanction after sanction has been imposed by the UN to keep both sides under control which was seen as intrusive and fascist by the North and was also partly a response of the US's fear of communism. The way they look at the rest of the world is primarily a result of what we've done to them. We often percieve oursleves as the ones under attack when in fact they're terrified of being attacked by us and having their own country's way of life suppressed by the western world. They're belligerant attitude is evidence of that and it's where most of their anger comes from. Perhaps the world should listen to what they have to say rather than slapping more rules on them.

I'm simply saying that actions like that are a result of the intervention of the western world that chose to isolate a country rather than allow them to integrate. To claim we had no part in their present situation is ignorant and a denial of responsibility.

And by the way, I'm not a stooge but thank you for that insight. I shall definitely hold it to a commitee so that I can impose sanction on myself. Maybe then I'll launch a rocket or two against you...
