Most of the songs i listen to are sad, depressing, break-up songs about hopelessness and angst.

I've heard of them, i don't think i've ever listened to them before though. Well, i probably have, but i don't remember lol.

The Shattered Fortress by Dream Theater.. Its actually a very very positive and beautiful message....
Though it is a continuation of a saga from a few previous songs from previous albums that may not seem all that positive, but if you listen to them from the first to the last, it is a very beautiful and inspiring message.

This is one of the few songs that makes me both melancholy and joyful at the same time. They wrote it as a tribute to Nick Drake who suffered from constant depression and eventually died of an overdose of depression medication. Although in the song they attempt to hit on the themes on which Nick Drake often dwelled, they composed it as a celebration to the influence he had upon others and so the song manages to be both sadly thoughtful and almost religiously exuberant.
