I used to be a pretty big Harry Potter fan. I like the fifth the most. People might complain about stuff like Harry being too whiny or whatever but in the book Harry was 15, and I was 15. Harry was going through some rough stuff and I was in high school so you can only imagine what a typical teenager is like. After the 5th book the 6th had way too much snoggling and the 7th book was just bad.

The last one was a bit underwhelming and predictable for me though.
Either the 3rd or the 5th. I'm leaning towards the 5th. My least favorite is the 6th. It was too light throughout most of the book until the end if I remember correctly.
I've read them all, 2nd was my favorite, but I liked all of them and seeing how the story progressed, I waited at midnight for #6 and #7 to come out respectively.

My list fluctuates a little, but it's basically this, and Order of the Phoenix is always at the top. :D I loved that book, there were so many good moments (I love the interactions between McGonagall and Umbridge) and it's the first time we see the Ministry of Magic. It's also exciting right from the very first chapter, and we learn why Voldemort went after Harry in the first place. There are a ton of things I'm forgetting but really, Order is awesome.
Between 3rd , 4th and 7th , maybe the 4th the most , but my least favourite was maybe the 5th like many subplots and way to long (although great ending) and harry was winy way to winy , it was funny at parts , and the 6th is like a prelude to the 7th with nothing important happening untill the last 100 page.
I loved all of them, but the most interesting plots (with the MoM, among other things) really began in the fifth book. It was the most immersive of them all in my opinion, and led the way to the best parts in the series (at times).
Fourth, followed by the third. I can't believe anyone liked the fifth book. I thought it was the worst piece of crap I've ever read.

To each his own, I thought the 5th was fantastic. All of them honestly were great, but Chamber of Secrets was a damn snooze fest.... It's the only one out the series that I've only read twice. Most the other ones I've read upwards 5 times. I've read Prisoner of Azkaban about 20 times at least.
I really find it hard to see why anybody disliked the 7th book. Taking away the school made it fresh, there was tons of action and more seemed to happen in the book than the other ones combined, it had some very powerful themes and Harry was so much more mature. I honestly don't see what more people can ask for but...whatever... *shrugs*
Chamber of Secrets, Sorcerer's Stone, Prisoner of Azkaban, OotP, Goblet of Fire, the rest. After OotP it was just fail (that actually surfaced for me in GoF) mainly because the books contained a lot of elements that I do -not- enjoy reading about. Was like she left the wonderful fantasy she drew me in with to give a crap about Harry's social life (which I don't really lol...especially didn't care for all the hook ups AT ALL. Waaaay too much snogging).
I like the 6th the most. Shocking ending, great climax, great plot, great humor. and great romance. JK Rowling really does remember what it was like to be a dumb infatuated teenager. Was really impressed.
I thought 5 sucked HARD. It was really boring and went no where.
