Idk if anyone else noticed this but i feel as if A LOT of monumental world events have been going on recently. 2011 seems like a really busy year so far for the news.

First it was the oil price boom, then the Tunisian revolution, then the Egyptian revolution and Hosni Mubarak's resignation, then Libya's revolution, then the Muslim radicalization hearings, and now Japan's earthquake/tsunami? Is it just me or does 2011 seem like a really revolutionary year for the world?

Brah these things have been going on forever. A few hundred years ago when things were less stable, politically, socially etc there were revolutiions every 5 seconds, but back then you also had massive armies marching on foot around the place, and there have always been natural disasters. It only appears so bad now because we have the means to hear about global events as they are happening and fear mongering generates viewership and money/fad crisis'.

Anyone remember the earthquake in Christchuch? Or the floods and storms in Queensland before that? No of course not, they are old news.

No one is really taken by shock. Did you skip history class?

Maybe Japan has a thousand+ recorded earthquakes a year? Maybe people revolt when someone remains their leader for extended periods and assigns his son next in line?

It's really stupid too. There was a super volcano like 100 thousand years ago that nearly wiped out early humanity, there were volcanos that have wiped out civilisations/major cities, there have been earth quakes, cyclones, tsunamis for thousands of years, and what it happens post 2000 and suddenly it's a sign of the world ending? Hell, Japan has had a God of earthquales for hundreds of years, and they're still here ... we're all still here. We survived the ice age, we survived super volcanos, we've survived asteropids slamming into the planet and setting life back a billion years, it;s still here. Life will go on, an earth quake? Pfft, it's a pebble in the ocean of life.

How ****ing ignorant can people be?

I find it strange that so many things have been happening yet we're only on the 3rd month of the year. A lot of **** has been going on recently. I don't remember any of the years in the past decade having this many changing factors in the first 3 months.

Natural disasters and human strife occuring along with the first three months of 2011 are coherent and meaningful to you? Uh, wat?

What is your concept of development and time I wonder?

Take a history lesson and have your mind blown.

I'm starting to get the impression you are just naive.

Seems normal to me.

Every year there are at least one or more things that are terriblely bad. Just seems like that because it's only March. People felt the same last year, the other year, and the previous year before that, and so on.

Well of course, this is more recent in your memory. People thought it was the end of the world during the Influenza of 1913 and a WORLD WAR was occuring too.

Far worse has happened.

The difference between now and generations before us is that we can find out what's going on at the speed of type, rather than have someone in town yelling "Hear ye, hear ye" when a letter or messenger arrives after many days of walking, riding, or sailing.

The internet magnifies everything, and on the internet, doomsday/apocalypse/end of the world has become a full blown fetish. Every single year since the internets earliest days has been the "end of the world" according to it. We're still here. The world keeps not ending, and the doomsday fetishists just keep moving the set time back and keep it going. It's just sad.

2016 will be the new end of the world, and every totally natural event between 2013 and 2016 will be evidence for it, of course.

Don't forget the deadly earthquake in Christchurch, NZ just last month. This has indeed been a very tumultuous and deadly year so far. People will try to say that it's all normal, and that the only thing changing in the level of media coverage. I've been watching the news since the early 1990's, and the media coverage today isn't that much different. There's a lot of crap going down right now.

I will say that it is odd just HOW MUCH craziness has already happened at the beginning of this year. Yes there is always stuff going on in the world, but there is undoubtedly an unusual amount of VERY BIG change going around just at the beginning of the year.

We have already had multiple, huge revolutions and then a freaking major country got completely descimated by natural disaster to such an extent a collapse of their economy is feared.

2011 has already proven to be a much more impactful year than the any in the last decade (besides 2001) and we are not even halfway through March.

At this point in time, I'm not willing to rule out the end of humanity. It is difficult for me to reconcile these events as merely coincidental. Rather romantic how we've evolved from a species fighting for survival to being docile in the very face of extinction.

Our earth is very geologically active and our global environment is not static. Things earthquakes will happen frequently and unfrequently, plates that move around dictate how much shaking will happen, and how many volcanoes erupt. Also about every 100,000,000 years or so the composition of our atmosphere changes causeing weather changes. Also about every 26,000 years our magnetic field does a 180 polar shift (north becomes south and south becomes north).

Yup, We need to take these signs and HURRY UP INTO THE NEXT CIVILIZATION. We need to move on from what we are, to where we needed to be 10 years ago. And thats a single race, a single group of people. Not 6 billion individuals, but 1 mass of super minded beings.

I say that the 2012 theory has more truth than people will give it credit, maybe it won't happen at the exact date predicted but in an extended period which already started IMO (probably since around 9/11) and I don't think the world is going to end. But the changes we are experiencing now will affect the world considerably from now on, it will be tough but I think we are looking at a very important time of our history. Changes are happening everywhere from political to economical to environmental, everything is synchronising for something big and hopefully better I believe.

Why yes I try to be. but based on what I've read from the old testament its not really logical and rational to think that God wants to kill us. I do admit there are some confusing things in the old testament, it is a pretty huge book It would be hard to figure out what each and every verse is trying to convey.

People who think it's because of 2012 are seriously freaking stupid.

I'm including you, mother.
