Yeah, I had to read Brave New World for my English class this year. It didn't really grip me like 1984 is.

yeah, it's brilliant. not what you might expect from reading the blurb though. you can see where many other titles got their inspiration, v for vendetta springs to mind.
The beginning can be quite the bore fest. But my god it really gets good.Ringx55
Oh, I know. The first half of Part One was really boring. I was actually going to put it on my "abandoned books" list, but my friend told me that it really doesn't get good until about halfway through the book. Glad I kept reading.:)
Great book. People do need a license to use it in a political context; I've seen those nutritional labels on the back of foods called "Orwellian" and "Big Brother". It makes me want to hurt people.
I have not read it but I have read Animal Farm from Orwell, and I found it very fascinating. So I'm planning to read it as soon as I found some time between reading the books that I have to read, I should read and I want to read :P .
Read it an loved it. I am looking at reading Animal Farm and Brave New World in the near future, once I get done with the other books I plan on reading.
I read it in high school and loved it, then went to find a copy of Brave New World to see how the two of them compare. Overall I prefer Brave New World by a small amount, but find both of them to be excellent books.

No, not at all. I find it didn't appeal to me. It was kinda stupid how he was forced to confess his "crimes" for fear of torture. What Orwell was trying to portray in out society I'll never know, but what he had written was more of a Communist Society and a dictatorship, where absolute truth does not exist. I just didn't like it. BTW: 2+2=4
Yes. I read it for fun in 8th or 9th grade, but a lot of it went over my head. I liked it, though. I read it again in my senior AP English class and got a lot more out of it. It's very good.
It's a fantastic book.. and almost entirely on point.. but people take it too literally and so they don't think it's applicable to today.. but it definitely is.
A few times actually. Highly overrated Orwell novel, but still a good piece of literature and I enjoy it. Though, his works like Coming Up For Air and Burmese Days surpass it I think. His true skill lies in making the banal (i.e. day-to-day lives) interesting, not dystopic novels.
