Why would it go out after 48 hours? That seems kinda quick. Besides; there are generators all over the place which you could easily get hold of. Unless you live nowhere near a city.Ninja-Hippo
There was actually a special on this a couple months ago. What the world would be like if humans up and dissappeared. Apparentlyk, without humans maintaining it, most of the power goes out pretty damn quick, within just a couple days. Only hoover Dam lasts for a large amount of time. I dont know what was with the emphasis on that dam, but eventually it goes kaput too.

dont the nuclear reactors have computers running them? so in theory, the nuclear reactors could keep running until they ran out of fuel which would not be for a couple years[QUOTE="Tolwan"][QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"]Why would it go out after 48 hours? but they are run by computers no?[QUOTE="ElBanano216"][QUOTE="fanofazrienoch"][QUOTE="Tolwan"][QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"]Why would it go out after 48 hours? That seems kinda quick. but they are run by computers no?yeah but I think they require a controller to keep everything flowing smoothly. I was watching a show on this exact scenario, and they said that all the nuclear reactors would melt down.
What if you knew how to operate a nuclear power plant?rb2610
I knew that Operating a Nuclear Power Plant for Dummies book was a good investment. :D
What if you knew how to operate a nuclear power plant?rb2610
Yes. Because one man can run possibly the most complicated energy generation station on his own :D
If he can, hes the man, THE MANTIS.
I think the generator idea would be better. Just be sparing with the fuel and you've got it good. Grow your own crops and farm some animals.
Oh and fight zombies.
to people who said it wont go out that quick:
It would. The History Channel said so.
EDIT: you need someone to keep mantinence on them, cleaning, fixing, and stuff like that. Without, they will go out pretty quickly. (them / they being power sources). Even the Hoover dam would go out eventually, it would just take a lot longer.
I have a generator and a gas station in town to pump from, but I personally would just ride a motorcycle around the country enjoying the worlds beauty now that everyone is gonewalton13
I would also do that, and eat alot of food.

Unless you live nowhere near a city.Ninja-HippoOh well yeah but could you oporate a generator? The power would got out afer 48 hours because nobody is the the electricty plant running all your electractiy.
Could you not have said that in the existing " What would you do if you were the last" thread, it seems unneccesary to make a whole new thread just to tell us this :?rb2610But then he'd risk going unnoticed. :o
Yeah. As long as you have a portable generator and can tap into the nearest gas station's reserve you've got power for the rest of your life. That's what the guy in I Am Legend (the book) did. Luncbox1
Lol, we would just copy what we watched in those kind of movies, true.
If you were the last person on earth and didn't live near the Hover dam. You power would go out in about 48 hours. There for everyone that says i would watch TV and play video games forever are wrong.Master_Jdogoh my god. The obvious answer to that question is to find a library, a patch of earth to plant stuff, a grocery store, and a nursery. Then live out your days. Probably should own a few cows and chickens, too. Screw video games...

*Guy reaches down to grab a book, and his glasses fall off and break*
"No..no no..that's not fair..it's not fair...there..there was time now..."
Erm. How do you think power gets to your house? Can someone please explain to me why the power would go out if everyone disappeared from earth?

I think I saw the same program as the TC. I fell asleep about 20 minutes in though. There was also a section about dogs that said only outdoor dogs with medium-ish proportions would survive in the long-run, which was kinda sad since my dog is crate trained.
There was also section on "how do we know what would happen if people abandoned an area? Because it already happened in Chernobyl". When they said (and this was on Discovery, I'm not making this up) "A city of 50,000 people became a ghost town" I almost lost it. They actually showed the exact same areas from CoD4, like the exact same rooms in the building after you escape the "bloody convention" and the abandoned amusment park. It's really cool how deatailed they made that game.
