I'm curious and would like to know if any OT posters here have seen the movie. I like romantic movies, but wanted to know if it's worth or watching or not. Thanks in advance.

Never seen it. I'm not into chickflicks. All I know is that Emilia Clarke played a role in a live play version of that story. If she was to come out in a remake, I'd probably watch just because Emilia Clarke. That woman is just lovely.

Breakfast at Tifanny is not a typical romantic movie ........ that's what makes it great ..... Can believe how our parents (or grand parents) behave like an ar$e in the 60's ....... so weird... especially that apartment party .... and how cruel she is to the cat

People did not necessarily act that way in the '60s. The apartment scene is a caricature. One of the themes of this timeless romance deals with the masks that people wear to hide their innermost selves from others. All the people in the apartment scene are wearing exaggerated masks, in a manner of speaking. Rusty Trawler, on the surface, is fabulously wealthy but is actually flat broke. The charismatic, dashing Brazilian is actually a coward. In the beginning, George Peppard wears the mask of a writer but is really just a kept man. Those are the obvious examples. Even more obvious is the thrift store scene with the Halloween masks. The Peppard character triumphs because he takes off his mask and reveals his vulnerabilities. The romantic charm of the film comes from Peppard's efforts to get Holly to take off her "mask," to be honest and vulnerable.

The Japanese character in breakfast at tiffany's is played by mickey rooney.

Every time I hear someone talk about big bang theory, I can't help but think that the characters on that show are just mickey rooney with nerdface on,

It's a classic. And please stop calling/comparing it to "chick flicks." Nothing like that trash.

I haven't seen it, but Audrey Hepburn looks cute in it. I had a friend who had a nice large poster of it in her apartment, she loved Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast At Triffany's.

yes they are You can call them escorts if you want, but if you make your living by going on dates with the opposite sex for money than you are a prostitute

Truman Capote has said himself that Holly Golightly isn't a prostitute but more like an "American geisha". Besides, to be an actual prostitute she'd have to exchange sex for money which she doesn't do once in the novel nor in the film.

So now let us ask; whose word should we believe, the author who wrote the story or yours?

Remember when the lady gave Fred a check to take out Holly?  that was her reminding him that he was actually a prostitute and not a writer.

Audrey Hepburn's Roman Holiday is better romantic comedy than Breakfast at Tiffany's.
