It was in incredibly poor taste, had Bush said something similar than it woulda been plastered on every news channel for days. I mean honestly some people I talked to claim "Oh, it was just him making fun of himself, not the disabled."

Now put it into this perspective, let's say I got caught stealing something, I don't even have to be President, lets say I'm working at an office as a low level employee. I accidently take something thats someone elses, say, a pop from a freezer. I follow it up with "Well, you would swear I was a member of the NAACP, huh" Yeah, laughs and all, now a black man hears that he may be offended.

No Barack goes on and "self-deprecates", comparing himself to people in Special Olympics. Listen, Barack, just because they're disabled doesn't mean they're not human. And my comparison, I was a low level employee showing low-class, he's leader of the free world, joking around about people who in some classes who can't even defend themselves. Wow, what a man!!! Honestly I want to see someone try to counter this, I'm curious to see what horrid excuses can be made...

Yar, the joke was targeting himself. It was unfortunate and he apologized. Life goes on. I don't know if you noticed but there are bigger issues facing the government.

On your point about Bush, it is sheer speculation, and therefore has no real merit.

On your second point, if you actually watched the interview, it is apparent that his comment was meant to be self-deprecating.

On the third point, nobody said that it wasn't a mistake. He apologized for it. Life went on. I've seen very little outcry except from Republicans. Hmm...

You're right, they would have. Just like the Neo-Con media is crucifying Obama. Hypocrits, all of you.

Put in perspective, our economy wasn't melting down during when Bush said that statement.. It seems just abit ridiculous that you would focus on such a trivial matter...

Really, so it doesn't matter who you offend, as long as it's self deprecating, whatever. The man showed a class that not even Bush stooped so low as to be, and Bush was a terrible speaker. Obama has come off as worse than Bush, a cocky, arrogant guy who is throwing out his idea's and stupid comments like nothing

I do agree with the part that if Bush said it he would be gettin hammered for it. People took pot-shots at that guy for everything.

People always say "if Bush had done this" or "if Bush had said that" he would be destroyed by the media, and that the media is in the tank for Obama. Well there's a pretty noticeable difference between Bush and Obama. Obama is incredibly more popular than Bush was when the media really turned against him. When Bush's approval ratings were where Obama's are right now the media was in the tank for the Iraq war before the invasion started and was hardly objective and skeptical.

He was comparing himself to the disabled in doing so, it's quite evident that in saying what he said he offended the disable by what could be percieved in the disabled persons mind as "The special olympics is for people who are worse than other people at things, I'm gonna compare myself to you when I suck at something".

The liberal media makes up about 80% whilst conservative media makes up about 10-15%. The rest is just in between. So far Obama has made way more idiot mistakes than Bush. The difference is Obama literally has no clue how to be a President. He will learn, but he will look like an idiot in the process.

Seriously your arguement is gettin nowhere fast. If it was a major ordeal, it would have been handled and as minute as it was, it has been addressed and taken care of. The man said sorry, its a simple as that.

While the joke was in bad taste at least he apologized for it. It is no where near as bad as some people are making it out to be. Although, I am beginning to question the public speaking of the president but oh well. This comment isn't going to make or break his presidency. And the republicans needs to understand that jumping down Obama for everylittle comment or mishap isn't going to be some form of justice its just empty ridicule. And Obama supporters need to understand that well yeah the comment was in bad taste and offensive. But overall its not that big of deal.

Yeah seriously because stuff like Katrina, the Iraq War, losing 10 billion dollars in Iraq (no clue where it went), as well as numerous other things.. Can be qualified as "idiot mistakes".. If anything Obama at this time is getting far more harsh treatment than Bush.. I mean people are actually trying to criticizing him seriously with not fixing the economy 50 days into his term..

Whether Obama will fail or not (which I would hope all american's hopes he succeeds), the fact of the matter is he is getting far more criticism than Bush about something he has had no control over.. Things like the Iraq war were spear headed by Bush, and for the longest time there was LITTLE criticism abou tit.. Infact at 9/11 he got huge increases in popularity and support with hardly any criticism.. So please if you are going to say something please let it be well thought out and intelligent.. And AT LEAST try to avoid appearing to be hopelessly bias.

Yeah just give Obama a few more months. Let him literally drag this country into oblivion. This country will be a much worse place come August-September when the economy literally stalls out and the dollar is worth less than the paper it is printed on. Quote me on this btw.

I hope things get better, but I know for a fact that the measures being taken by the Obama administration are wrong. Dead wrong. Sometimes I wonder about their intentions....

Many economist disagree with you, including a former nobel prize winner.. Infact the nobel prize winner thinks that Obama isn't spending enough money..

He's only been in office for a few months, I'll say that.

Video_Game_King

Exactly. Everyone criticizing him for not having fixed the economy yet is just... ignorant.

Wait a minute...which side are you on? I'm a bit confused as to your stance on the issue. Do you support him or think he's done a crap job?

I support him. Sorry, my messiah comment was supposed to be poking fun at people like Rush Limbaugh. I guess the sarcasm didn't come across well...

[QUOTE="MadExponent"]Yeah just give Obama a few more months. Let him literally drag this country into oblivion. This country will be a much worse place come August-September when the economy literally stalls out and the dollar is worth less than the paper it is printed on. Quote me on this btw.sSubZerOo
Feel free to move out of the country to other first world countries.. Oh damn.. Sorry those countries are more socialist than even Obama's supposed image of the US.. I guess you are screwed.

We really are screwed. I know it does nothing to complain the way I am. I really do. It has gotten WAY too out of hand.

Too soon to tell.. One thing for sure, Obama took me off guard with how fast he has acted.. In a government we have grown accustomed to taking a long time with very little getting done, Obama has certainly made impressive strides.. Especially in things such as closing Gitmo and ending torture.

chessmaster1989

Ah yes, Rush. Let me say this: are there any major conservative pundits who don't come across as pompous or biased? What happened to the days of William F. Buckley, where they could sound smart without automatically declaring the other side as a baby-raping cult which drinks puppy blood to win elections?

Last time I checked, "Gobama" wasn't a word :P. "Goomba" is, so I assumed that's what you meant.

I don't know what it has to do with the topic, though...

Obama was picked on purpose by Kissinger. Clinton never stood a chance of getting the nomination.

You know, I've read some of Buckley's stuff, and, although I don't agree with him, I like him 8).

Back when conservatives had class... actually, I personally think that David Brooks is more or less Buckley's successor.
