I really can't judge from the information given in the video. I'd need to know more, like what forms of evidence the FBI has against the kid, etc.

Yes. It was a reaction to 9/11 and needs to be severely changed or done away with IMO.

As the government should be for protection, roads, and mail... yes it's gone a bit overboard.

Actually they're not doing their job. Sending a kid to juvie isn't doing your job on a federal scale. If this kid was making bomb threats, and didn't have his 'ip stolen', then local police should have taken care of it.

They have gone too far, and a lot of the internet stuff obama is perposing goes a lot farther. The terrible thing about the patriot act, of the 545 (Senate, President, Supreme Court) people that could have tried to stop this, only like 5 or 6 did (can't remeber the exact number, it may have been less than that).

As long as the public feels "safer" with the Patriot Act, they will let the government overule the constitution.

When the USA PATRIOT Act passed, it passed 98-1 in the Senate.

Russ Feingold was the only one who voted against it.

Russ Feingold was also the only one who actually read it.

Do the math. :P

This is our govt. We've become very RE actionary and not PRO active. We were reactive to 9/11, to Katrina, and to the recession. Ourgovt. knows when these things are about to happen but still doesn't do anything preemptive.

I digress. The Patriot Actwas going to farfrom the beginning. But we will DO/SAY anything todefend little Johnny or little Susie.

I wonder how many people read the Economic Recovery Act before it was passed. /attempted thread derailment Anyway, it should be at least altered quite a bit. It does overreach.

That is exactly the problem, since it is to long to read, they can spend our money on any crap they want without anyone knowing or arguing with it.

Interestingly enough, I have yet to see a conservative criticize people who voted against the act without reading it.

Just throwing that out there. :)

So what happens if hes found not guilty? Does the government compensate? I sure hope it does and not have some 'exception' that they can use to not compensate for the various stresses they would have caused.
I still don't understand why the patriot act hasn't been taken out yet. People who know about it don't like it, it contradicts the constitution of the U.S. and it violates many basic human rights.

Thanks Bush. I still am not sure to how you got elected..TWICE.
